Need advice for new tires for stock rims
I just got a 1997 TL with stock 15" rims on it. Unfortunately, the moron who owned the car before me put crap for tires on the car. Anyway, I need all your opinions on the brand of tires I should slap on there. My Acura mechanic swears by Michelins (he has a 2001 TL), but I have heard otherwise. Right now, I am in no position to get rims, so I'll stick with the classy 15's. It's got 205/60/15 on there -- should I get 215 width instead with a 55 or 50 wall? Thanks for the input.

Bridgestone bought Firestone, and unfortunately inherited their problems. This was probably a very bad move. Bridgestone tires are very high quality. The RE730's are made in Japan. The quality problems were only those made in the USA by a Firestone factory.
I've bought 4 Bridgestones and 2 Firestones since the whole crisis began, no regrets. All made in Japan

Your a braver man then me Einstein...
I refuse to buy tires that have killed people. Not to mention they knew they were killing people and then covered it up.

Hmmmm...that is very interesting. I do agree that Bridgestone inherited Firestone's problems. The two are quite different. It is like saying "Don't buy a MB because Chryslers are lesser quality". I am still undecided on which tires to get. The big reason I would consider Michelin's is because of their higher compound quality. I am more interested in road noise and feeling those little annoying bumps, which Michelin's apparently reduce both. Thanks for the opinions so far.

The vehicle manufacturer must take some of the responsibility... putting off-road style tires on a vehicle that most people will overload, underinflate, and drive faster than they were intended for. These cars should come stock with passenger-car tires, and off-road style tires as an option only.
Also, people who operate these cars the way they do should take some of the responsibility.
I partially agree with your opinion, and don't blame you for it at all. The only reason I bought Firestone tires for my MR-2 was because the previous owner put two brand new ones on the other axle. SH-30's, speed rated passenger tires made in Japan. If I had to replace all four, I wouldn't have gone Firestone.
