That "jerk" does contribute to the acceralation !!! As I am at WOT, I notice a huge inrush of acceralation like Star-Trek's warpspeed after that baby shifts-n-jerk. "It's not a bug; It's a feature".

I am always reminded of this avatar

when it happens. This avatar is very representative of how it feels. It shifts, then it thrusts forward.
UPDATE - This weekend, I changed the engine oil myself to Mobil1. Previously, it had dealership crap in it. As I was cleaning my drain pan from doing the oil change, I noticed how natsy (thick) the dealership oil was.

Now with the Mobil1, THE LURCH IS GONE !!!! It no longer has that forward thrust when shifting with WOT (or 2/3 WOT). The shift still feels firm, but no forward lurch.

I just wanted to add that comment to this thread.

Now for those of you that will say "WTF, how does engine oil effect shifting ?" Here is the reply in advance. My theory is that the dealership crap was some cheap thick crap. As the engine increased RPM, so did the parasitic drag (exponentially). When it shifted, the RPM dropped and so did the parasitic drag, thus causing a lurch.

Now with the Mobil1 which is thin in comparision to conventional oils (and much thinner than the dealership crap), the parasitic drag is minimal. So, when shifting now, the engine does not suddenly regain lost torque from parasitic drag. The shifts are SWEET now. The shifts at WOT are almost seemless like the shifts in my '06 TL.

By the way, the previous dealership oil had 3,500 miles when I changed it (in case you was wondering).

Be sure to use the Mobil1 5w-20 or ?w-30. Don't go heavier than the 30. For me, I use a 50%/50% blend of 5w-20 and 5w-30. Why ? I use this as my Summer blend to get the "cSt @ 100º C" where I want it. The 5w-20 is slightly too thin for me, and the 5w-30 is slightly too thick for me to be using in the Summer.

Yea, I am a regular reader of BITOG forum.

BTW, I am refering to MOBIL1 Synthetic.
