Question Navigation Question

Do you people w/the navigation system installed onto your tl's, do you pay a fee for having the navigation system and using it? I know it's about $2,000 more to get a navigation system put onto your car from acura, but is their like a bill you pay if you use it?

No, there is no monthly user fee, unlike other Navi systems. This is primarily because our Navi is not "Live," but rather, works off a DVD reader located in the vehicle. Updated DVDs are available yearly at a cost of approximately $100.

No consumer GPS systems require a monthly fee. GPS satellites are maintained by the US government, so if anything, your taxes pay the monthly fees. Also, the system only receives GPS signals; it cannot transmit anything.

OnStar is a private service which requires a fee cause you can talk to their operators. This is not a substitute for a good navigation system, IMHO. Actually, I feel it's pretty much useless, but people seem to be buying it. The 2003 Acuras should have OnStar I hear.
