Navigation DVD version 2.40 vs. 2.20?

I have already searched the forums for this but found nothing -- does anyone yet have experience with the new Navigation DVD version 2.40? I want to know how different it is (i.e. how much better, particularly in the Boston area) compared with 2.20. I have a 2003 TL. The update list on the website is pretty vague, and when I called navigation customer support they weren't very helpful.

anyone have any experience with 2.40 yet?

Paul Mooney lists some planned map additions for Version 2.40 on his helpful navhelp.com web site:

http://navhelp.com/other.html

Scroll down towards the bottom of the linked page. I didn't see any Boston area changes listed.

There are threads that indicate 2.30 shows the changes as a result of the Big Dig in Boston, the new road to the airport, etc. What else are you looking for?

most of these updates are just that - updates. no big changes unless you go to the 3rd gen TL. these new updates are just going to have new roads/POIs and stuff like that. I have the 2.20 version and I'm sure this new version will have a lot of new roads that have been built in my area over the past few years.

I guess I'm mostly looking for updated stores and landmarks. For example, today I entered JC Penney, hoping it would find the location in Peabody, MA, which is the closest one to where I live. Instead it pulled up a JC penney 3,000 miles away. sigh, I guess I'll have to live with this, or get more savvy with learning how to use the acura GPS. My old portable garmin GPS didn't give wacky search results thousands of miles away.

I got my 2.40 version black DVD navigation. I had 1.09 before and I thought it is time to upgrade the disc and I love it. On 1.09, all the gas stations were showing with one icon but on this version, it actually shows the gas stations with different icons. Also I can find certain stores now that I couldn't find before. Anway I am glad that I updated to new version.

How much did you end up paying? I really want the new version since it had my town now, but I can't see myself shelling out $185.

I end up paying almost 200. that's including everything with tax and shipping. My old version was too old. I wanted to go to some stores so I entered in navigation and when I went there, that store was not there anymore and it didn't have information around my town. That's why I had to buy this new version and i like it.

I have an old version also and my wife gets pissed everytime she uses it. I dont know if the car being from NJ has anything to do with this but she searched for a Subway and it was pulling up subway stations in NYC and were in Florida
does the new version get better results or is there a better way for her to search

Brad

This is the main problem I have with this navigation system -- doing searches for places and getting results thousands of miles away. Though I have version 2.20, I find that it's only good for addresses, rather than places. I guess I'll have to keep a yellow pages in my car so I can look up addresses for places I need to get to.

I have the same problem sometimes. It seems to always want to send you to the headquarters or somewhere very far away when you are searching for a national chain/store.

HEy Laidback=

Since Modesto is a new add for this year and Stockton came on last years- it is well worth it to have the newest version.

GPS solves 90% of spousal disputes in the car- I never ask her how to get somewhere anymore- just push the buttons and drive love it!

I have 2.40, before i had 1.09 then 2.20, i notice a big difference between 1.09 and 2.20 but not much of a major difference between 2.20 and 2.40, just minor road corrections/changes here and there
