Navi update

What is the newest update that will work with my 02 navi? Will any disc work, or only certain ones?

Certain ones, the 2.11c is the one that is currently available. The 2.20 will be available sometime in Jan. '05

Which 2nd gen TL? The 99s used the PCMCIA hard disk while 2000 to 2003 are DVD based. If you have the DVD based unit, you will be able to use 2.20.

From AcuraNavi website.

"The current version is 2.11C, and is available for purchase. The 04 Fall Update DVD (version 2.20) has been delayed, but will be available sometime in January. "

I have heard this before. January becomes April, April becomes September, etc. Why even bother calling it a 04 Fall Update?!?

I hope it comes out in January. My v2.05 is showing its age. I keep having friends moving into newer addresses that aren't in my Navi.

Didn't know that, I thought all were DVD based - I have an 02. Thanks for the info, good to know.

Canadian Maps??

Will they ever include the canadian maps for the 02 model? I make so many frequent trips to Toronto from Chicago. I don't want to buy the new 05 model just for this.

I just called the 888 number for Acura DVD. They said sometime in February Canadian maps will be available for 02 models.. Does this sound right to anybody??

If this claim is incorrect, can this be hacked someway with the current 02 system??

The latest update for the 2nd gen navi's did not have Canada or Mexico, however the disc that came with my 00' did have portions of both countries mapped. What the rep on the phone was probably referring to is the new update that supposed to come out sometime in the late Jan, early Feb timeframe. I don't know much about the new update, but it's possible they re-added Canada (and maybe Mexico again) to the disc. If you don't want to wait, you could (in theory) buy an older disc - but what you gain in some coverage of Canada, you loose in "current" data for the US (and Canada). However, some people have a lot of problems downgrading to previous versions of the navi disc - so my would be to wait and see what the new update includes (plus, at that time, if the new disc doesn't have Canada, I'm sure some people with the old disc will upgrade and might sell you their old one cheap).

I'm going to wait until February then. I don't want to take a chance buying an old disc and having less data for the states.

Hopefully this will be added. If not has anyone had any luck hacking the design and adding their own maps??
