Navi touchscreen issues

Ok, I don't understand why buy after my car has been on for a while, the bottom of my Navi screen won't accept touch input. IE to get to set up or shutdown. It seems that once the screen is sort of warm it doesn't take any input. Anyone have this problem? This is on a '99 TL. Thanks.

I have had similar problems. I made a system for my TL with 2000 Odyssey parts, pretty much the same. Sometimes I touch the screen at the bottom and it does not respond for like 3 seconds but does always work. I figure it is thinking. I have not had a problem exactly like yours where it quits altogether, though. Eric.

I've had periods of "lags" before too, but the screen has always responded eventually. I also had my navi screen replaced (I have a 00 TL-P) recently due to another, totally unrelated issue.

There's a diagnostic screen you can get to through the navi (hold Menu, Navi, and Cancel all at the same time for about 5-10 seconds). In the diagnostic menu, there is a screen where you can test all the contact points the screen can recognize (it looks like a screen full of buttons that should respond instantly to any touch). You may want to try that screen and see if it's really the navi screen giving you problems, or just the system taking it dear sweet arse time.

Hey thanks for the info I will have to try out the diagnostic screen.

So do you just hold your finger in the area you need to touch until it responds?

In the diagnostic screen, the test buttons will respond immediately since they do not cause the navi to "think", which causes lag time. So, tap on the buttons like you would if you were entering an address or something - basically don't apply pressure to the screen, literally just touch the screen with your finger, then lift off immediately. The buttons will depress, then pop back up (kind of like keys on a keyboard). If you experience any lag, or you can't get certain areas to read your "touch", then I would suspect you have a faulty navi screen.

damn.. 3 years bump but I have this problem. After driving for a while, when I touch the bottom half of the screen, it selects the middle button also. For example, if I am typing address and press the bottom words, it is pressing the middle words.
It works perfectly at first time I turn on my car tho. Anyone with this problem?
I have 99TL with navi. Maybe the screen is old?
