Navi screen has a pixel(grid?) out.
Navi screen has a pixel(grid?) out.
Greetings, maybe I'm being kind of anal about this but my TL-S which is almost a month old has 1 tiny pixel or grid (The resolution thingamajig) out. I mean on the bottom towards the left side (just where the street names come up) I have one pixel that is green all the time no matter what screen mode it's in. As you can imagine it's really not that noticeable. I figure I'm gonna live with it cause;
A. If I ask Acura service, they might laugh at me for being so picky.
B. Even if there's a chance of them replacing it, I might just ask for trouble in regard's to the Navi screen and dash etc. being taken apart and replaced by the dealer(I don't have much faith in service do I
).
Well, I wonder if I'm the only one that has this minor problem, has anyone else noticed this on their screen? I don't think I'll bother with it. One thing that concern's me is how noticeable it may be when I install the DVD player to watch movies in the future. Hmmmm, food for thought.

Man, Acura needs to buck up on their service. What does this tell you when car owners are afraid to take their cars in for fear that it will come back worse than it went in?
Anyway, 1 bad pixel on that screen isn't going to be enough to get you a replacement, I think. I think you'd have te have at least 2 bad pixels within a half inch of each other to get warranty service.
Take it in and see if they'll replace the display. If they give you a long story or want to examine it any more closely, just walk away.

Since the NAV is an LCD screen, due to the many pixels that make up the LCD Screen itself, there is a tolerance for failures by the LCD Manufacturer and one pixel will fall into that tolerance. Therefore Acura will most likely not replace this for you and it can not be fixed by Acura service, only at the manufacturer of the LCD display, which they choose to not fix, since very expensive, for failures that fall outside of the tolerance, they will just throw out the old one and replace it with a new one.
I had this happen before to one of my cell phones and they thought I was crazy bringing it back to them, since one of the pixels was obviously not working.
Sucks either way, since we are all looking for perfection in our cars.
Good luck!
