Navi owners, has this ever happened to you?

When I started my car last Thursday evening, instead of the usual Acura/GPS logo appearing along with the the legal disclaimer, I got the "Enter Pin:" screen with the keypad. I tried using my own personal PIN, but that didn't work. I had to use the security PIN supplied by Acura (the one you use after disconnecting) the battery. My radio presets were fine so I know that there wasn't a power interrupt.

The car was parked in my garage all day (my wife and I took her car into work that day), and all I can think of is that the cleaning people who came that day may have been messing with it and when they tried to get into my personal address book, locked it up. My valet key was still at home. I think this is unlikely, but I can't come up with any other explanation.

It only happened once nad has been fine ever since.

Any thoughts?

I had the opposite happen, after starting the car, my radio displayed code and my Navi was fine. I think it's just o case of SH ($hit happens).

I have had it happen to me twice, and I have never disconnected the battery. I could find no explanation for it, I just keep my pin handy now.

Try having the dealer check out the power connection to the navi. If it is loose behind the dash, or anywhere else, it may be periodically disconnecting power, which would require you to enter the PIN. If the radio did not require the PIN, I would think that the battery had not been connected...

I never had it happen to me but I had the equivalent of the deadly Win NT Blue Screen once. The whole screen was grey...nothing no rebooting this puppy. I trun off the ignition and tried again, pop the DVD out and back in again, everything...and still 'Grey screen'. I turned it off and drove home. Next day everything was normal again.

I chalk it to sun spots. the Satellites were down or something....
(it reminds me of that ''if GM was Microsoft" joke)
