Navi keeps prompting for PIN number
I have a 99 TL and just purchased a dvd navi unit from Ebay and installed it. The Dvd version is 2.11a. The problem I am having is that ever other time that I start the car up, the navi prompts me for the pin number, I enter it and that message then comes up on the screen saying that the unit is acquiring its GPS signal. And then it works fine. I have verified and reseated the connections, but it didn't help. The funny thing is that all the personal addresses and previous destinations are not lost. Could this just be a bad unit I got or is there some reset, internal battery replacement needed or anything that can be done to fix the unit.

i'll try to take a crack at this one, but i'm sure it will get heavily discredited within the hour....not sure if its the exact combination, but on the navi, if you hold map/menu/cancel for ~10 seconds, you get to the diagnostic screens. I believe there is a 'reset' type option in there. Clear RAM or something to that effect.
If not, maybe the unit is losing power and resetting itself?
search for the map/menu/cancel trick though.....at the very least it has some cool stuff in there like number of satalites being used etc.
good luck....but no worries, somebody on there will for sure have the answer
also, are you using a new navi code...the unit you got off ebay has its own code.
I've done the same thing as you (2000+ dvd navi in a 1999 TL)...so have faith, it does indeed work!!
mine has just started doing the same thing. It worked perfectly for many months, but since it has gotten colder, the burned disk and unit are not working well at all now. I will try that reset thing - I remember something like that in the dia. menus
