NAVI gets lost in the cold

I've just started to run into the following problem with my Navi system, has anyone else had this problem? What do you suggest I do?

It seems like when my car is outside in the cold (30's), the Navi has problems finding the GPS signal. When I drive showing the map, it appears to wander all over the place. If I park in a garage where it is not as cold, it works fine. This seems to have started only a few weeks ago, but appears to be consistent with me parking the car outside for a while (1 hr or more) in temperatures in the 30's or lower.

Any suggestions before I go to the dealer?

Thanks,
Chip

Just a random thought, but I know that sometimes when I turn on my rear defroster, my radio gets more static. Maybe that's causing some problem with your navi? (I don't have navi).

mine too - I might as well not even have it now, mine works less than 1/2 the time. I dont know if it is because I have a burned disk or because of the temp.

That has happend to me a few times I think I really has to do with the DVD player not able to read the DVD because of the cold,
Like a little mosture builds up then freezes on the lense of the DVD reading EYE.
And come to thinks about it I had a water leak in my trunk that I fixed this summer

Ice on the window covering the gps antenna?

Burned disc in the nav are a no-no many reports of intermittant operation with those
Acuras little built in security- use a fake and the system dies!

My navi died a few years ago under warranty- from heat
Try wrapping the unit in reflectex material to keep it warm- and use a legit disc

It is a legit disk. Purchased the upgrade last year.

I'll check for ice, but I don't believe this is the case due to lack of precipitation.

I'll try wrapping it.

Thanks for the ideas

cant see to figure it out... the dealer said they have never seen this before?

I have a 99TL. I have not upgraded to the DVD (newer) unit yet. Maybe 1 in a 100 times when I start the car my screen is just BLACK. Nothing will work. Even the Heater/AC controls won't light up. Usually happens when the outside temp. is cold. I just turn the ignition off and then on again. I always starts to work. Not sure why it does that.
