I can't wait either. I've spent enough time 'off digitized road'...

What do you think they meant by graphical changes? Do you think they will clean up the look a little? When i was in my friens '03 MDX, his Navigation looked sooooo much cleaner (smoother edges on the buttons, sharper writing, etc.) I was jealous!!

Angry $285 for the new DVD?????

Hi Guys,
I just went to the Acura dealership in Smithtown, NY and the guy told me that the new Navi DVD will cost $285!! I know on this forum, people have been saying something like $180. Any clarification on which price is correct? Also, isn't there any place online where the DVD can be ordered? Or do you have to go through the dealership?

Thanks.....

Yeah, lets help each other out, and find out which dealer is selling it for the cheapest and all get it from there, and maybe that dealer can give us more of a break??

Tell 'the guy' to call the number above and then have him explain why he wants to add $100 to the price...

I was told the price would be $185. If we could get together and negotiate a better price that would be great!

I just looked at the site, and unless it is lacking current information, it does not look to me like they added any new detailed coverage for the entire State of New York!

How can that be?

Has anyone heard otherwise?

yes we get 30 days to return.

its 2 layer i hear so the only way we can backup is with a 2 layer dvd burner which will be out in April of 2004. if its 1 layer then it can be burned with a normal home burner.

the letter i got from ordering says:

We anticipate the new navigation discs will ship on or before November 17, 2003.

I hate being the one to bring this up. But what happens if they delay the disc for another year. Will they "Accidentaly" charge your card for $185 and you are still ridin around without an update? I think I'm gonna wait until this release date to order mine. With all the stories I've read about the waiting and the waiting, I'm kinda skeptical.

You can also go to www.hondanavi.com if you have a Honda Odyssey (like me) or a Pilot. Also if you would prefer to have it say Honda when you start it up (instead of Acura) I think the Honda disc should work in the Acura system.

Nick79, where does your information come from? The site says it lists information for v2.11b and lists what looks like some pretty meager expansions of coverage. It is a new site so where does the statement the "site has not been updated" come from.

See the listings at:

https://ecominet2.alpine-usa.com/htm...reas_honda.htm

i say it is not updated because the phone # says 95percent of the united states and when i look at NY, my current dvd has all of those cities and there is nothinew new. my version is 2.05B.

then i looked at the www.acura.com site and compared the coverage from there to the coverage site of 2.11 and it was Exactly the same. this confuses me.

joelhel can you look at the owner link coverage of 2.05b and 2.11 and your see its exactly the same thing.

It actually looks like very little has changed. So, either:

1. The website is not updated.

2. The phone message that was originally up for the Navi update talking about "95%" and verified and unverified coverage using a new method was totally wrong. I don't see how they could make that kind of an error, though. Would be some serious misrepresentation. There is not enough additional coverage on the coverages listed on the site now to come near 95%

I guess it is also possible that the detailed coverage listed there is only "verified" roads. Not sure what the difference is there--when I ordered, they said something about it also giving you posted speed limits on roads. That would be a change.

In any event, I placed my ordered. If it is a worthless update, or more accurately, a non-update, it will be going right back.

I'd also like to send my car back due to the outrageous problems with the transmission (and now the brakes), but that's another story. Maybe I can fit it in the UPS package with the DVD.

Nick79. The owners link now only shows detailed coverage info for v2.11 . It highlights added coverage areas in red. It looks like under 30 new cities were added, including major metropolitan areas like Bend, OR; Racine, WI: and Boise ID. In addition, there is expanded coverage of a little over 20 areas currently covered in v2.05.

Looks like a another major disappointment from Acura. There is no new coverage for NY, as you noted, where only Buffalo, Rochester, the NYC area and Cooperstown have detailed mapping.

Looks like we're screwed again. They really don't seem to have done much in the two years since the last update and they want $185 plus tax and shipping for it.

Has anyone looked at the new mapping data from the 04 TL? How do you think it compares to what seems to be on this update for us with Second Generation TL cars?

Yea, and Tennessee, where I used to live, has only like 2 small updates, and it still doesn't include Cool springs, a large and still expanding suburb which is linked to the rest of Nashville.

Well I will let you guys be the first to find out this time about what the DVD upgrade has. I was one of the first that got the upgraded 2.05 version a few years ago. It was a little better than the 1.09 version that came with my 2000TL . But keep us informed when you get your new version. I will most likely get it get it after the first of the year.

Angry Navi DVD out of stock??

I just checked the status of my Navi DVD order and it said "Not enough stock to ship" (or something very similar to that). All I can say is... THAT IS BULL **** !!!!!!!!! What the hell is the point of pre-ordering something when it is going to be out of stock the first frekin day... Isn't there a law or something that says an item must be in stock the first day it is available to the public??? Has anyone else had this update to their preorder ?
