NAVI display orientation problem.

Hi all,

This is a strange one. I've been using my NAVI for years without problems but recently noticed that the orientation of the display has changed.

When zoomed in it no longer scrolls in the directinon of travel. It always is oriented north. I seem to remember when zooming in beyond a certain level that the unit would always display in the direction of travel with the red maker facing up for example.

Now it only scrolls as it does when zoomed out.

What that means is when zoomed in sometimes it is scrolling in such a way that is very disorienting. Always with the direction of North as up. So, sometimes it's scrolling from bottom to top. The compass is fine as the North direction is accurate. So, it makes you feel as though your going in the wrong direction sometimes.

I've looked everywhere to see if it's a setting I accidently triggered.

Anyone else see this happen to their units?

Thanks,

/Steve

I personally have no experience with Acura/Honda nav systems, but in my Solara there is an orientation setting. It's the same icon that shows when pointing north, and when touched, it switches to show the direction the car is going in.

Once you are zoomed in tap the top right or left of the screen and it will change the orientation. I can't remember exactly what side it is but try both of them and it will work.

Right you are sir!

I just went out to the parking lot to try it. It's the compass ICON in the upper right hand corner. Pushing it indeed does switch between direction of travel and North heading modes.

I must have accidently hit it. Not obvious at all and in "North" mode when zoomed in it drives you absolutely nuts. It was always in "direction" mode since the day I bought it.

You would think it would be ion the menu somewhere but it isn't. The user interface for the 2nd gen NAVA has a few things like that. Some menu sequences feel like you are going around in circles.

It was one of the better ones at the time though (01 TL).

Thanks a bunch!

/Steve

no problem...glad you got it fixed. And i know what you mean...I don't like the whole compass setup at all. It's not very user friendly and it takes a second to figure out which direction I am going sometimes.

I just wish I could have it heads up no matter how far I zoom out. I think its on the 4th notch I'm back to north up.... kinda sucks!
