Question Navi Accuracy Problem / Resetting the Navigation System

I upgraded to the new version in the beginning of the year and since then, a lot of destination addresses are what I consider to be WAY off. It shows my home address at the back end of our court instead of at the entrance. The building where I work shows up two buildings down the street. Even the icon for the local Acura dealer is off. The street locations are fine. If it makes a difference (and it might), I received the new version in the first batch of bad disks and had to subsequently load the 'patch' disk...

I've heard people mention in couple threads that if you have certain kinds of problems or want to go back to a previous version, the Navigation System has to be reset by the dealer.

Does anyone know how this is done? Is it something that can be done 'DIY' or does it really HAVE to be done by a dealer?

I thought I might try resetting the navi and reloading everything before taking it to the dealer...

Yeah - you can try a forced download from your new DVD (also do a backup clear). You'll have to patch it again though.

Unhappy No luck...

Well... I did a 'backup/clear' and reloaded V2.11b (without loading the V2.11c patch). Same problem. It even shows address numbers in my court that are not valid (out of range). It doesn't seem to make a difference between the b and c versions...

I was not able to reload my old V2.05b disk. I tried using the procedure for upgrading to V2.11b, but it doesn't seem to work. I just keep getting the 'invalid disk' message...

Does anyone know how to go back to V2.05b from V2.11b(c)?

Is anyone else having similar problems?

I got the same results when I tried to reload 2.04. I'm not sure how you'd go back.

It just sounds like they screwed up parts of the map database in your area in this release.

Is there a way to do the reset on the screen without load/re-load software?

Did you run the patch? The patch was supposed to take care of some address problems where a lot of addresses showed up on the wrong site of the street. If you already have 2.11c then there's not much you can do. If you have 2.11b you should have received the patch disc--make sure you use it.

There is no way to reset the navi as far as location goes with the push of a button. You can "calibrate" the navi by using a couple city blocks. You should be able to go up about a mile, then keep turning right 90 degrees onto perpedicular streets until you're back where you started. Ideally you should be placed at the first intersection correctly. This is because the system uses dead reckoning more than GPS coordinates for location.
