Wink Navi 2.60 fun : )

Ok I got my new black 2009 version 2.60 navi disk for my navigation system in my 2000 TL... So far it has a ton more of the points of interest that I did not have previously.

The discs are soo expensive @ over $200 with shipping, that I make a backup just to be safe, if for any reason the original becomes scratched or unreadable... This one seems to work faster than the last version and has more info on it, so I'm a happy customer

I recommend the upgrade if you have an older version.... My

Although I wouldn't mind it if they cut the price down to like $95 and made the interface a little more fancy... it kinda looks like windows 95' still lol

ya it looks exactly the same lol... I want them to keep it simple, but they could make the buttons look better like with some gradient or something.

I got the new one as well. Definatly a good upgrade, especially since the 2G stock Nav DVD is based on 1999 NavTeq info. So many new and upgraded roads in South Florida over the last 9 years, this is a must!

So we should all start a petition in order to get Acura/Honda to update the user interface on the next update for our 2nd gen navigation??

if the demand is there, its a possibility they would update it...

I dunno... but it would be cool to make it a little more modern looking...

I do like the new disk I'm using... It is faster than the old and no blue screen of death ... yeah I use a backup : )

Anyone have a "backup" disc for sale? Or is that frowned upon in this forum?

I'm sure it's frowned upon on most public forums since it's not really l e g a l... You should ask questions like that in private...

I think the new navi disk should have a satellite view. How cool would that be

I hate to burst your bubble but the backup(dvdr) navi disc wont work, the navi units in our tl's have a system in place to prevent that. It will only read factory pressed disc, not a burned disc, sorry

If you want to pay for a ticket and fly to Dallas... I'll let you sit in my 00' tl or my girlfriends 02' tl and then you can see that we both use backups to protect our original with no problem at all

anyways... not really where I wanted the conversation to go... let us talk about new ways they may be able to improve the look of it

lol poor guy. he's going to have about 30 people come in here and burst his bubbles

ON TOPIC: as for the upgrades, do they only upgrade the roads and locations...like restaurants and schools and stuff? nothing with interface or options? do you think it is more accurate? my navi is off a lot for no reason..i think i should start another thread on that one though.

would you guys know if they bothered to include the Canadian maps as well? i know the older discs had some but not enough to even say it's a gps for Canada... i've done the navi conversion but it's completely useless since there's no maps for us.

If you're a graphics designer, or if anyone on here is, I'm sure they can do it themselves and burn the new data onto a DL DVD and VOILA! new interface! Although, I don't know how hard it would be.

I might be interested in that, or a newer version. Its just hard to stomach $200 but my black navi disc is getting very dated.

I wonder if there is any difference in performance with a backup disc.

No, the 2007 MDX nav data disc will not work in a 2001 CL.

Finding the 2.60 version for $30 on eBay is a freak happening. A 2.60 disc can sell for $100 or more immediately if it's a "Buy it Now" listing. Even the older, single layer pre-2.11 discs can sell for more than $30.

I'm done with my factory navi upgrades..seems like such a waste nowadays..i use my Sprint Navigation and it works perfectly...my Alpine Dub Din has Navi also, but getting any SW updates from them has been..well, lets just say FAIL. So, i primarily use my Palm Pre Sprint Navi now and I love it, especially for the traffic feature. I just put the ear bud in one ear to hear the turn by turn and occassionaly glance down..not as convenient, but a whole lot more accurate and up to date

I got a burnt copy from someone here. It does work at times but not all the time. For some reason lately i've been getting errors and the only function that will work will be the AC feature. I would have to shut off the car to get it going again, but that sometimes doesnt work as well. I say just upgrade to a better and useful DD navigation.
