Nav System Does'nt keep up with my Driving....

Hello all....

I have a 2000 TL with the factory nav and i live in Chicago....

I have been having a problem with the Nav system while driving becuz it tells me i am not even moving when in reality i am going 80mph...

It seems like everytime i ask the dealer about it, they tell me "its too cold outside".. but the fact that it happens when its 90 degrees out does'nt make sense either? they have no answers for me.

I have been having this problem for the past 8 months or so...

any ideas or suggestions would be great!

the dvd drives have been known to die, mine did a few years ago- luckily under warranty then

Or it could need cleaning
What version software? Did you know they make a new dvd every year?

Try some reflectex insulation wrap- the trunk sees temp extremes like you wouldnt believe

When that happens does it say you're getting a good signal? Mine only freaks out when my signal gets weak.

However, I have another similar problem. Occasionally the nav doesn't fully adjust when I make a turn and it displays me driving down the road diagonally. I think it's the Gyro sensor cutting out. My car was lightly bumped in the trunk area where the DVD system is.

My 00TL navi sometimes gets too lazy & just tell me I'm not in the calculated route .... LOL ... maybe cuz too many constructions being done here locally that the disc is too old to recognize them ...

I got an aftermarket navigation and it works pretty fast. I found out that hard drive based systems work faster than DVD based systems..

To adjust the alignment of the cursor go to setup menu

You can rotate the cars position and verify its exact location- well, within about 15-20 feet

These are old school GPS, handhelds these days are good to 3 feet!
