Unhappy My turn

Coming home tonight the car jerked hard and threw me forward. No cel's, no other lights, and it shifted through the gears fine. I was hoping it was a random missfire (which i believe a cel just flashes for) because ive gotten a few of those, but when I tried to put it into reverse it had a hard time. Then i tried to baby it to autozone to see if i could get the stored codes read and on the way through my neighborhood it jerked and almost locked up the tires (they chirped) What next? the car is at 126k. Is it even worth talking to Acura Care about? What are the possibillities for me trading this in as is for another acura with under 100k miles?
You don't understand how shitty this feels until it actually happens

I think typically they offer free parts, charge labor. It's definitely worth talking to them to see what they would offer. It wouldn't hurt to try.

Good luck.

From what I remember reading on here, around $900, I think.

Did you ever get the recall notice letter? Or did you receive it but just didn't get it done? If it is the second gear, then they will blame it on you for not getting the recall done. If it's the third gear, they might still blame it on you and say that's why it failed. It just depends on how honest and straightforward they will be.

Your best bet is to take it to the dealership and let them start the process, in my opinion.

Sorry bro, I feel your pain. I just had my tranny replaced last month. I took it to Acura as soon as I felt the tranny start slipping. Best of luck!

i bought the car at 110k miles (without knowledge of the transmission issues- thought they were only in the type s models) so i never got any recall info. Have there been a lot of cases that they will at least pay for parts?

Having an after market intake will give a bad impression to the dealer. In my own opinion, you should definitely take it off and put the original intake back on there before going to the dealer.

Ah, gotcha. Then it's not your fault. Just tell them that you're not the original owner and never got served with the recall notice... if they ask about it. Otherwise, don't even mention it.

As for the intake, don't worry about it. My car went in with all the mods on it when my transmission died, and they didn't mention a word about 'em.

Even if your dealership was asinine, it's just an intake. They can't possibly link that to your transmission failure.

Sorry, forgot about the last question.

Yeah, from what I've been reading on here, it seems like a lot of times Acura offers to pay for the parts, and you pay for labor... for people with cars considerably over the warranty mileage.

What dealer are you going to? Nalley? You won't have a problem. You can't even get a TL tranny for customer pay--all reserved by Acura warranty for the recall. With 110k they should cover the whole thing anyway. If not, they'll try to bargain with you. Either way Acura will pay for the part; the dealer might make you pay labor. Sometimes Acura will split it if you're out but with you only having 110k and not 300k, you should be ok.

Hey Pure, what about headers............My dealer said headers can lead to tranny trouble.........I'm surprised almost ,that they didn't say anything to you considering almost every inch of your car is modded
Plus I have a high flow cat I can only imagine what they would say about that

Ed voyles acura- And my fingers are crossed! I don't mind shelling out 6-700 but I can't swing 3k. They have confirmed that it is dead, but havent called me back with an update on what they're going to do.

Nope. There is a law, they cant turn down warranty work from a part unless they can prove that that was the cause. And we all know that our trannies will fail nomatter what we do to our cars

Just got off the phone with the dealer He said he's 95% sure they're going to pay for the part and I will just pay labor which will be about $750 bucks. Also getting a loaner

How long is the warranty on the new tranny when you get it? I've read 1 yr/12k miles and 3 yr/36k miles?

What you described does sound pretty shitty. I agree, give ACURA CARE a try. Can't hurt.

Oh for heaven's sake thank god you went to Ed Voyles and not Nalley. Nalley would have likely demanded you pay for the transmission entirely, then claim you damaged and trashed the loaner and want you to pay for it, blame you for the transmission failure, install it wrong, test drive it and crash it, and then insist it is normal for a TL to have a crushed front end.

My experiences with Nalley Acura are by far and large the worst dealership experiences I have EVER had. I strongly encourage all Atlanta-area Acura owners to steer clear and avoid them AT ALL COSTS.

Ed Voyles, on the other hand,

BTW: Who's your advisor?

Yes i specifically went to ed voyles for this reason. I had a great experience when i almost picked up a CL from there last year as well. His name is John- i'm pretty sure he's the manager. They gave me a 06 TSX with navi for a loaner. Pretty nice car!

What color is it?! I just had a black/parchment 06 TSX Navi as a loaner. Should have about 1500 miles now if it's the one I had. Can't remember the stock number, seems like it was 9451 or something similar. It was a very nice car, we drove it to Savannah for the weekend and Navigation kept us sane! Will definitely have that in the next vehicle.

Haha yeah that's what i have too.. that would be funny if it was the same one. This one has a little over 1500 miles on it. I like the car overall but it seems kinda slow.

Got it back last night and it drives great. They also replaced the ecu- whats the reason for this? Anyway, the service manager told me it was one of the updated transmissions and it should be good for the rest of the life of the car. I'll probably still get something else though.

The ECu controls teh shift programing. Its been reprogramed to allow better shifts to help with it building less heat!

You must have turned 21 because Ed Voyles doesn't loan cars to anyone under 21. You definitely had the car I just turned in right before you went to Ed Voyles. That car had 265 miles when I got it on a Friday and 1500 when I returned it that Tuesday. Took it on our trip and Navi is worth its weight in gold.

Do whatcha gotta do man

The number on the loaner i got was something like 2465.

Are the loaner cars reject cars from the factory? The tsx had a few rattles and the seats creaked really badly.. and the car had less than 2k miles.

No they're bought new by the dealers, used for a while, then sold as certified used. They tend to be in worse shape because they're driven by so many people so frequently, and driven hard.
