Post My trip to StreetEffectz!

Getting off work from Long Island to pick my car up from ParkAveAcura (installed springs and swaybars), decided to check out StreetEffectz(Ron) shop afterwards. Got to ParkAveAcura w/o a problem based on the MapQuest printout. Then i left Acura at around 6:30pm. Based on MapQuest, i should get there within a hour at most by 7:30pm. Tragedy began! I got lost, couldn't find Garden State Parkway in NJ. Took me a while to figure out where i was and what i needed to do. After I got off, the sun was setting, SHIT, NIGHT TIME! I was driving on the local streets, freaking map has like 10 different turns and street names. So i was holding the map on my left and steered with my right hand. Eventually I had to turn on the lights inside the car to read it. Now that i was able to read the map, I can't see the street names. If i was driving slow, cars behind me high beamed and honk the crap outta me. If i was driving too fast, I couldn't see the street signs. I got lost like 10X and drove back and forth. Had to ask for directions every 10 mins, sigh. In the end I got there around 9 pm, lucky Ron was still there. And when i got there, this lady told me, I was the first person who got there w/o getting lost. I'm like YEAH RIGHT! That was the cost i paid for being cheap trying to save $2000 for the NAV! damnit! Another thing, don't visit Ron w/o a NAV. At least don't go at night! But he told me the shortcut going home. Now I'm going to trade in my new 2001 Acura 3.2 TL Non NAV for the TL-S NAV! If you stay in NYC all your life, its fine. Look what happened to me once i got out? Ok i admit I have no sense of direction lol

Glad that you found the place. Those directions from mapquest sometimes really sucks! I have a couple of incidents that I was lost because of those damn directions. Well, now you have your Nav system, I am sure you won't have that problem again.

The NAV takes a pounding here by people who do not want to spend the 2K, but it REALLY comes in handy when you least expect it, and I know I rely on it even when I know where I am going. To me, it is worth every penny!

Nav rules! I will never get lost again. I have used it in unfamiliar places and it has gotten me where I needed to go.

The Leisure section in the NAVI has lots of interesting places in it.

I used the Navi on Easter weekend to visit various cemeteries. It makes them very easy to find.

I've had the same experience with MapQuest. It can usually get you to, or near your destination in most cases, but it's been wrong often enough that the money I spent on the Navigation System was worth it. The only error I've encountered using the Nav System is that the location I was looking for was on my left side instead of the right side of the street as the Nav voice indicated. But it said to turn in exactly at the entrance ramp to my destination though. The detail of the local streets is pretty amazing.
