So, as some of you members know, i have been having some issues with my car. Electrical, and transmission wise. i decided to show up at nalley acura today in GA and i spoke to the Service Manager Joey Kelley and i told him my situation. I am over Warantee 3 YEARS!! and he still called ACS and got them to pay for 90% of my repairs, all the way from my new tranny to the electrical shit. and on top of that... He gave me a loaner...a 3G... and i have to say.....shits nice
before driving the car i didnt really like the styling, but it is a HUGE step up from the 2G. it is so luxurious, but i have to say its not as fun to drive as my 2G, i think its mainly because of the shitty stock tires. Here are the pics

WOW, that was really nice of them. Now you will be able to enjoy your TL for many more years trouble free. Nice loaner, but I'm a bigger fan of the 2nd gen as well. Maybe 09 will do something for me.

Good job phee! Those must have been some hi quality donuts you brought the service manager!
#9
lol, actually no donuts man! i just showed up and told him the truth-college kid who just got the car and cant afford a new tranny. and he was more than helpful. im bringing everyone coffee and donuts when i come back though haha. so what are the rules to a loaner? i just have to pay for gas right?
#10
dont bend the loaner, and do return it with a full tank- dirty outside is fine! enjoy
They have a coffee machine- so just donuts is good with them.
A nice thank you letter to the dealers main manager and to acura care will reap benefits for those that helped you. Bonus pay depends on happy customer satisfaction surveys, and calls and letters regarding named individuals are appreciated by the staff.
Who would have thought- the truth will get you nearly free!

Most of us thought phee didnt have a chance of anything but a huge repair bill on a quirky 99
Acura reps can be cool. Again, the written thank you letter scores you so many bonus points with the service dept. for next time!
I drop in for free advice, a run around the block with the head tech....whatever I need

they are the same brakes as a gen2 unless its a type s or 6 spd- they get brembo fronts and do stop!!!!

Nalley Acura in Marietta is awesome! The service is exceptional and so are the technicians, I rate them A++++. I switched from Sons Acura in Morrow, GA to Nalley in Marietta. Sons couldn't get the job done in my experience, IMO. Nalley just has better service and quality. Anyway, glad to see that they helped A LOT!

yeah you are a lucky guy....they gave me a 2005 tsx..not a bad lil car. i drove the fucking shit out of the thing...also drove around knocking garbage cans over LOL

most states have laws regarding rental cars/loaners with minimum age of 21 some places and 25 in most. Its about the insurance. Be glad you got a free trans in only 3 days.
#25
yea man, im really happy that they treated me right. as for the breaks...they suck so bad, i almost lost it last night. im definitely not going over 80 in this thing. i just think im more comfortable in my 2nd gen because i know its limit. it also seems like it takes FOREVER to get to 100mph in this thing haha. i could be tripping... but my breaks feel stronger

My dealer usually sends me over to Enterprise when that happens. They have really shitty cars though. lol

the gen 3 car outweighs the gen2 so the same brakes would feel less effective to you.
You havent gotten to drive a TL that is running well yet- that new trans is like 1/2 a new car
Do a seafoam treatment and spark plugs- and enjoy!
I should have mentioned- dont get a ticket in the loaner- they frown on that sort of treatment of their vehicle

oh yea, i figured it was the weight of the vehicle that was affectign the braking performance when you mentioned they were the same brakes. would that mean that the brembos fit our gen 2's?
i got new plugs about a month ago and i cleaned the whole im myself

with a whole bunch of parts and work they ~should~ fit- but you need bigger wheels just to clear them, and lots of parts besides the calipers
Best bet for us is the 2 piston calipers for a legend and serious rotors and pads

95 Legend LS Coupe has the 2 piston diameters as close to the same as possible- best for our application
Phee- dont be surprised if your front motor mount is found to be dead. They wear out and its easy to replace while the trans is out 120-150$ versus 400.
The dealer will call you once they figure out all the probs!

lol, well if its cheap them i might replace the mount, but they told me i was lookin at about 350, but i told the lady that my previous quote was 250-300, so she slipped up and said, "i was just quoting more to be safe" LOL so i may or may not replace the mounts, but i barely have any engine movement as it is

Well that is just good business especially if you are going to be in the market for a new car again. I know they do not have to do it, but... The 2g was when acura went with the global platform and well the tls were made with cost savings in mind and that translated to some other issues as many of us know.

phee:
Double check everything on your invoice- no slip ups are allowed- no service writer would say that and not get in trouble.
The front mount- part is $120 or so, labor to install while trans is removed- 30 dollars.
the side mount is often worn out as well but no discount there unless doing the water pump job.
Any word on the electrical issues?

I would say don't drive it like you stole it for at least 1,000 miles. The car seems so much better with a new trans, at least in the fact that for me the gears were slipping something terrible.

first 500 miles no racing, no full throttle to redline runs
Test of SS mode approved within reason, if something is wrong inside the trans- better to find out in the first few days than on a trip.
From 500-1000 miles drive normally without beating on the new parts, vary the speed on the freeway like a new engine.
Then its enjoy at will !
