My TL's worst day ever!!!

So sad. Yesterday pulling out of work the guy in front of me decided to not go after he started to leave. I wasn't able to stop in time and rear ended him. He had a Rav 4 with rear mounted spare tire so the spare sardine canned my hood. Radiator seems fine but can't pop the hood to see. Going to body shop today for estimates. Guess the whole cliche "nobody was hurt" comes into play here but just feeling a little bad cause I've never hit nothing in any car I've had ever. Just thought i would take a minute to share my nightmare.

Sorry to hear that. Since it's your first accident though, be glad your insurance probably won't go up.

There is going to be some internal damage. Hopefully it won't be a total.

So sorry to hear that Dave,

BUT

An insurance claim with a 'totaled vehicle' could be your best bet!

The insurance company will deem either totaled or not, if they DO deem it totaled, you will have an option to 'buy back' the vehicle, they will give the valued amount, minus scrap car cost, and hand you a big ass check along with your vehicle and a 'rebuilt' title. Take the money, then fix and re-insure your car!

It's a suck situation, but if it goes down the way I just described, you will have around 6k to play with, and keep your car!

Good luck with everything bro!

That's 50% of the other party's fault too for being a jerk; was that in a parking lot?

Depends on your insurance. Our insurance does not have accident forgiveness.

buddy towing boat, dad following in Jeep
break in traffic so tow vehicle moves forward and jeep follows right behind -
acting as one unit of 3 vehicles

Suddenly STOP as hidden traffic appears!
BLAM
Who runs into him, destroys engine and back of the boat?

good ol,,`careful when you cross the street` dad!

If you submarined under the tire and bumper:
there is likely frame bending, front core support rad/light bent etc...
one can only hope~ depending on the 105 being done yet

No frame damage. Radiators fine. Hood, grill, and some cosmetic work on bumper.

i really don't think thats a total, they usually only total if damages are like 2/3 of the cars value or such..

Nah not totaled. Damages are at 2095 as of now. Parts will arrive Tuesday. I'm dropping it off Monday so they can begin by prying hood open and assess for any further damage we didn't see with hood closed. It will all get repaired and I hope to be back on the road soon. In the meantime i'll be borrowing a mini cooper from my mom while it's being fixed. Should be interesting.

These are your key words, if you have core support damage, your quote will rise significantly - especially if there is no donor vehicle to cut from, if needed.

Problem is, you won't have any clue until that hood gets opened.

In my *I've seen more wrecked and damaged taxi-cabs than I ever care to* opinion, just by the picture it looks like it got tweaked on the RF a little....
*We would fix it by un-tweaking it with the porta-power*

Either way, unless it meets 'totaled' status, you are just out your deductible, provided you have full coverages

with the way claims have gone up insurance companies don't want to total a car its gotten up 80-90% of vehicle cost before they total, a few years ago it was like 70-75 % of veh cost, now since its your fault your kinda screwed, given the age of the car they will probably only pay out for used parts..

if you want it totaled...make your own decision on this as it is illegal, remove headlight and ballast crack them put em back, thats at least 1-2k they add to price right there, body parts insurance will pay for used parts, electrical they dont, it can turn into headaches later so electrical parts they usually don't bother and pay new part cost, you can also crack the windshield near the bottom another couple hundred there

I should have it back Friday. My mom recovered from surgery faster than expected so I rented a car so as not to have her couped up in her house while I was in her car. Hyundai elantra. What a pos. I feel sorry for anyone who drives this car on purpose. As far as parts, only thing used they are putting on is the grille as long as its nice. If not they are ordering the new parts for that as well. I'll post pics soon as she's back!
