Is it possible for a new tranny to suck up more power from the drivetrain than an older one? It's odd becaue I used to beable to chirp second in SS with no problem, and with this new tranny, I can't. Maybe it just needs to get broken in, or maybe it's just my imagination......
All that matters though is it doesn't break!

Chirp 2nd with SS? Are you kidding?
Has anyone else had this luck?
SS will go up 10 notches in my book if I could chirp 2nd!
Chirping is the thing I miss most about driving an automatic.

yes you CAN, i can vouch for that. i have done it so many times already. very easy to do actually, no matter you are in SS or not (hell the car shifts to 2nd automatically anyway). just floor the car from stop, it will shirp throughout most of 1st until you pass around 5500rpm. when it redlines and shift to 2nd, it will chirp again. i have done this with both the vsa on and off.

Oh man, this is exciting. I can't wait for the break-in period to end. Even if only to try it once.
Which is more successful... Chirping in SS or regular D5?
Anyone have any video of a TL chirping 2nd?

you can chirp in 2nd easily as long as you floor it completely from stop, coz' in both d5 and ss, it's auto from 1st to 2nd.
and if you wann make it really easy, try this. from stop, floor it, and watch the rpm raise rapidly. when it's about 6500rpm, let go of gas a bit (but not all). now the car will shift to 2nd immediately. at this time, completely floor the gas. now the rpm will jump and you get what you ask for, chirp in 2nd

Oh boy. I am only 300 miles away from 1000. Although, I hate to drive my car that way, I have to try at least once.
I'll report back to everyone in a few weeks.

The best way to chirp is to put it in SS, take it to about 6100 RPM's in 1st, let go of the gas, upshift to second, and then floor it. The key is to leave yourself room before the redline in 1st.

Are these cars stock or chirping with headers, exhaust, etc?
I am running stock only. Although, I'd love to get the Comptech axleback exhaust.

My transmission was the same way. After about a month, I was chirping between 1st & 2nd again. You've just got to loosen it up a bit, that's all.

YES!!! That was my impression at first. When I got the new tranny, after I re-aquanted myself with the car, I felt that it did not have the accelleration that it once did. It took at least 3000 miles before it felt good again. I may have just been imagining this, but it sure seemed real!!!
