for less than $30 you can add a shock sensor to the factory alarm, it wouldn't stop anything, but the alarm would've been going off like crazy while it was rollin' down the street.

I've seen that happen a dozen times going down the street. All anyone does is laugh their asses off. One way not to get towed..unless its a flatbed, I heard was to turn your wheel all the way towards the curb and put "The Club" on...and it'll be a pain in the ass for the tower.

ok... time for me to vent... my car was on the tow truck and the guy was ready to leave when I stopped him. here's what happened... I park in this lot which says non-costumers will be towed away blah blah blah but its 12:30 at night so I think nothing of it. well, I leave the pool hall around the corner and i hear an alarm going off and blue lights flashing. I thought it couldve been mine so i start running and the guy has it on the truck already and starts driving away. all i could do was jump in front of the truck (which now seems pretty idiotic of me). so the guy turns out to be an ass and I have to pay the $108.00 service charge cause he already had it on the truck. but what really got to me after all that was how he got the car out of the space. the nose was parked towards the wall and i had the parking brake set. so i get in the car and the parking brake is off which meant he opened the door. but the thing that got to me was since you cant take the shifter out of park without the key and the nose was towards the wall, that meant he DRAGGED my car out of the space!!! not only that, he left little hairline scratches on the door while trying to open it!!!!! and I couldnt say anything cause i thought of this after he left! I felt like going to his garage and beating the living piss out of him!! and the thing that also pisses me off is they have the right to do it! sorry for the long post...

I wouldn't recommend turning your wheel because all the tow driver is going to do is drag your car with the wheels turned. Tow truck driver don't give a $hit about your car when they tow it and the ones in NY are maniacs especially with all the potholes we have here.........$hhiiieeeet You got lucky with just a couple of hairline scratches...damn those ba$tards

Mine got towed away sunday. They also took the parking brake off. Is there a way to take it off from the outside? it didn't seem like he when inside my car. The guy towed 30 cars from that parkign lot that day. It only cost me $88.00 to get it back. Thankfully the car didn't have any damage.

Uhm, isn't it illegal for them to enter your car??? I say sue the bastards for entering your car and damaging it. You should be liable for any fine for parking in the wrong place, but that should not give them a excuse to damage your car. They should have to pay you for being a royal asshole and messing up your car.

Damn I'll remember not to do that. Never tried it before. But that's why I have no respect for ALL cab drivers and ALL tow trucks in the city. I know they all aren't bad, but if you see what good chance that they're a$$holes. A cab hit my sister with its side mirror once and didn't even stop. So i say F*(k em'
