My Speedometer...going nuts!!!

check this out guys. Racing a Honda Prelude...I couldn't help myself!!!

btw I smoked his a$$

sorry about the quality. It was taken while I was driving, listening to some rap music, racing this guy who thinks he's driving the fastest prelude in the world, and I got a chance to snap a photo with my Nokia 3650.

Gotta love having the camera at all times!!

As you you can see the guy was one of the ****tiest drivers I've seen in a while. I didn't even need to go into SS mode to spank his a$$.

I know man. I was on the 407, and I just couldn't help myself.

thank god there were 0 cops.

What is that, like 60 mph? Seriously though, I don't want to hear anymore complaining about gas mileage out of you! :p

it's not 10 miles between intersections, but because you have to pay to use it, very few people at night are on it.

BTW I did this at 11:30 last night, that's why I figured it would be safe to do so.

***BTW guys. Let's assume there was a cop that clocked me doing nearly 200, and he was stopped. On the 407 generally there is an exit every 2km. So if the cop is stopped and I'm doing 200, that would mean that it would take me a maximum of 40 seconds to reach the next exit. Don't you think I would be able to get away from the guy, exit at the next exit, and drive away without him seeing me???

See the way I see it. Even if he reaches 200 km/h in under the 40 seconds, don't forget I'm still travelling at 200 km/h, and let me tell you, if I saw a cop that clocked me at 200, you are damn right I'm gonna keep my foot set to the floor, and probably be going about 240 once I reach the exit.

So in theory, I would think that the cop would have no chance in catching me, and it would be fairly easy to get away from him.

what do you guys think???

No matter how fast you are going you still have to drive faster than the 'speed of radio'(the cops radio that is).

yah but if there is only one cop on the highway at that time, chances are, there isn't another cop within 2km of him, thus allowing me to get away from them...

Well I would have to judge based on the situation. If I'm going that fast, by the time the guy gets going and turns his lights on I would be long gone. Depending on where I was, I would probably exit the highway immediately and hope that he doesn't see me.

Don't think I'm gonna be running from cops. I'm just saying that if it were to be possible, I may take the chance.

As tempting as it would be to take the next exit, remember the cop is probably putting himself in your mind, thinking "what would I do if I were that guy?"--and he'd radio his buddy to check the very next exit, trapping your a$$

You might want to take the 2nd or 3rd exit as they're not expecting you to brave the extra few miles on the road. Better yet--if there's no median, or if there's a median and it's crossable, wait until you're out of sight then make a quick U-turn. I doubt they'd recognize you from the oncoming lane, going the speed limit, whistling innocently to yourself...

125 MPH??? See generally once I reach 100 MPH I realize just how fast I'm going. I mean you should realize based on how fast you pass ppl, that you're travelling at quite a fast speed.

yeah...at 125..i think i would know it...i always acelerate to 120 when i get on a on ramp ontothe highway before i go to the normal 80mph cruising speed...

and sc354..ive had the same thoguhts as you!....what i would do is floor it right after i see the cop and top out...then exit...probably would be aorund the 3rd or 4th exit...cuase aceleration isnt that great above 120...what the other guy said aobut making a u turn....it would be good....if you can make it fast enough before the cop see's you agian....meaning slow down from 130+....turn over he median of gras which has a lower coefficent of friciton then pavement so you got to be going slow..dont want to spin and gfet stuck and screw yourself over....and then accelerate back to curising spee don the opposite side....sounds ahrd to me....

Performing a U turn on a highway would be very difficult. Essentially I need to be atleast 1 km ahead of the cop in order for him not to see me performing this. And then I would have to merge properly with the traffic on the highway. I guess in a TL-S it wouldn't be too hard to merge seeing as I can get to 120 km/h in about 8 seconds.

it's not possible, at least not on hwy 407...the cameras are everywhere on hwy 407 and they can spot u easily

even thou u got lucky and escape, they will bust u at ur home 3am in the next morning.............y?? remember u have to "scan" when u entry/exit the hwy??? it calculates ur avg spd and they know how fast u r going

hwy 404 is very safe to do high spds at night, but don't go DVP thou

Well honestly guys, I figure that once you're able to get up to those speeds w/o using SS mode, you have mastered the art of driving. SS mode is simply a way of cheating in order to manually put the transmission into the gear in which you see fit, and seeing as 70% of cars nowadays don't have SS mode equipped, I figure it is better to not use it.

Now that's not to say that if I'm racing some riced out civic who thinks that by adding a spoiler and Body kit to his car will make it faster than my TL-S, then yes I probably would use SS mode, just to prove how much faster my TL-S is, compared to his civic.

All in all, I had a virtually open road ahead of me, and wasn't in too much of a rush to reach these speeds.

and BTW to samkws: Nice going at 230 km/h, but I still win!!! On numerous occassions I have reached speeds over 240 km/h on the 407. One Wednesday night I was coming back from DVP and York Mills, and I entered the 407 onramp at about 180, and ended up gunning it from 404 and the 407, all the way to my place at the Dufferin Exit. It took me under 2 min to get to there, travelling at about 245 km/h. hahahaha Beat that!!!

Well so far I'm probably one of the only teens who hasn't been involved in a major accident, or even a minor one for that matter. And the fact is, teenagers talk quite a bit amongst themselves, and from what I have gathered, no one has driven as hard, or as fast as I have. I guess you could call me someone who is extremely in tune with the mechanics and the functionality of the car, resulting in 0 accidents on my record.

Many of my classmates have been involved in numerous accidents and have been driving the same amount of time as me, or in some cases...even less...

BTW, knock on wood...I don't want to get into an accident..

If you're going that fast, THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY PEOPLE AROUND. My motto is never past a hundred. We all know we're lucky enough to own cars that can do almost 150MPH but why risk it?

haha..just to let u know...i did 230km/h with just two third of throttle~

and 407 has a lot of spd traps, u better watch out~

hwy 404 has the least, but there are OPP patrols sometimes

407 is quite meaningless, coz i will never go on there, and nobody would....it's well known for the spd traps...

try do 200 on 401, it's much better than doing 240 on 407~

You guys are only pissed off and stating that I'm a f*cking moron because you have cars that have balls, but you guys don't...

how about one of you hot shots go and do the same...if you can't prove in any way, shape or form that you have raced someone, then get lost.

The fact is, anyone can rant and rave about how they raped some M5, Mustang, G35, or what not, but if you have absolutely no proof about it, then it's worthless to all of us.

Yah I know you guys are just looking out for me, and I appreciate that. Trust me guys, I'm already beginning to realize as I look back at the 10 months that I have been driving how many stupid mistakes I have made, and luckily nothing happened.

I must say though, besides launching it once in a while (maybe 3-4 times per tank of gas), and occassionally gunning it on the highway, I have really calmed down, and my lead foot seems to now be turning into something a bit lighter

I mean the gas mileage doesn't lie. I used to get about 17L/100km doing all city driving, and in the last 2-3 months, my worst has been 15L/100km, and the average is about 13.5L/100 km, keep in mind this is like 99.9% city, with about 10km of highway driving per tank (makes a minimal difference on the average). I'm now getting atleast 375km in the city, before the gas light even comes on.

So whatever, my philosophy is, have fun, be safe, and your ride deserves to be washed weekly!!!

AMEN!!

and like samkws said in his other reply, even a professional race car driver can be involved in deadly accidents..... for real man, slow down... or take your car to the track.
