My situation with the tranny
So latelty I've felt that my car's been a little sluggish, and sometimes the tranny feels kinda stiff, so I decided to take it to the acura dealer over at Paragon Acura.
The lady there said that they have to perform a full diagnostic on the car, which will cost me $125, and then if she see's a problem with the tranny, she'll replace it free of charge to me.
The problem is, im not in the best situation right now to pay the $125 for the diagnostic, so do you guys know if there's any other way around that?
Did you have to get a full diagnostic before they took care of your tranny?

Just chillen..
What's going on? How many miles you got on? My 1999 TL's first gear and 2nd gear were jerking, meaning when the ECU shifts, it would go the ill 2-3000 RPMS and then shift with a jerk. I went to Rick Case down here, and it a $90 test and she said the same, however I told her about my warranty and everything. Luckly they are replacing my tranny because they pulled up a code said torque converter was bad and the clutching system wasnt properly working. Im in a 06 TSX now and waiting for my car.
P:S my warranty expired last month, but they still covered it because the guy knew about ths problem, im only sittin at 73K!!

Bro, if you are 100% sure its slipping and jerking, you dont have to pay the fee because they will go and repair it for you, however if you state a tranny problem but something else comes up, then u have to pay for the fee. U know what I mean? Thats why the mechanic told me.

I just realized something today
The warranty for the tranny is 5 years/100,000 miles, and since I have an 02 TL-S and it's currently 2007, then that means my warranty is up even though I only have 60,000 miles on the car?
can anybody please clarify this for me, thanks

Game if anything you can try the other Acura dealers. There is Acura at Roslyn and like Valley Stream and also Isle Acura. Give those a shot but I'm pretty sure they'll charge you that fee cuz they cant have everyone coming in claiming they have a tranny problem and some probably dont but heck thats for them to judge.

OK- Everyone who worries about the diagnostic fee the dealer tells you is $150
BY LAW- The repair shop must have your written permission to work on your car.
If they can't provide a work order for each vehicle- they must be stripping it for parts! Just ask LE!
So the way the system works-
You take car to dealer and they fill out a regular work order
Mechanic checks codes and drives car
Tells Service Manager who now creates a Warranty Repair Order
You are not charged for the diagnosis- it is part of the warranty- they just have to determine that it is a warranty issue before writing that work order
*****
Not everyone has the next problem but a large number of us have- so be prepared
Next, you get a phone call that front motor mount is bad and must be replaced.
This is often where people experience a problem
The current part price is $110-120
Labor with the transmission removed is 3/10ths of 1 hour
Approx total depending on your tax- $150
Some places forget and enter the wrong thing in the computer- then try to charge you 3 hours for the mount labor instead of 30 dollars, so just remind them you read it on acurazine and place that all important call to ACURA CUSTOMER CARE 1 800 382-2238 X5
Yes I worked at dealerships and private shops for a looooong time
