My dealer is fixing my rotors for a second time UNDER warranty...

They said they are installing NEW, upgraded brake pads that will prevent against rotor warping .. and they <sigh> ground my rotors down a second time.. I do not like this b/c aren't rotors MORE prone to warping after they've been resurfaced more than once??

Anyways, I got brand new brake pads and "new" rotors outta the deal, so I'm happy, all is covered under warranty. For those in the Chicagoland area, to take advantage of these new brake pads, go to Continental Acura in Lisle, Illinois.

Yeah .. good call. I got a 2k3 TL-P as my loaner (what a dog.. ugh.. compared to my Type S w/ headers + intake... I can TOTALLY justify my purchases at this point).

I have mad respect for the TL-P in the luxurious department, but yeesh.. just doesn't compare to my TypeS as currently modded.. nice cush ride tho!

I can't believe they FORGOT to check your rotors.. wonder if they forgot, or if they "forgot" .. y'know?

I had my front rotors resurfaced and new brake pads put on my 2003 TLS at the 7500 mile service. I just went in for my 15,000 mile service and got new rotors and pads front and rear!

You think with Honda making cars for decades they would have rotors that wouldn't warp. I am waiting for mine to warp as well. 1780miles and counting.

damn, I should've went to Lisle for my second resurfacing. I told him about my concern with resurfacing them a second time and the manager says it's fine. He says if they warp again, then he'll replace the rotors but not willing to do it last time. I went to Acura of Libertyville.

Peter, I'd have them give you new rotors or commit to a discount on new ones of like 50% if their replacement falls outside of the warranty period...Resurfacing shortens the life of the rotor drastically. Especially twice. It was the defective pad causing the problem, and they probably should have had the bulletin on this the first time. I had my new pads and rotors done August of last year.

At least Honda offers to fix the rotors. We had this Chrylser 300m at work and at 5k the rotors were so warped. The steering would shake and the car would vibrate. The dealer refused to fix the problem stating that it was normal wear and tear. No matter how much we fought them they just would not fix the problem.

My buddy has gone through 3 sets of warped rotors in his Audi A6 wagon in less than 3 years. And he does not drive that car hard at all -- it's his family ride. Honda isn't the only one...

update:

They fixed the rotors/pads issue .. but botched my dashboard issue .. the center console was suffering from extreme gaps and what not .. now it's worse..

The best part was when the service manager told me he checked the car over himself before handing the keys over to me:

I get into the car, and the entire from console was "popped" out of the set of clips that holds it in .. it looked like a really bad radio install... ugh

Oh that sucks. Damn dealers seems to be doing a half ass job these days.

I agree about the TL-P loaner. It is a PIG. I missed my TL-S when I had the loaner.

Well, i don't know what to do except wait it out now .. i have these twice-resurfaced rotors and new brake-pads.. i view the resurfacing the of the rotors as "cutting corners" to save $$$..

I guess I should be grateful , some people haven't even been able to get a second resurfacing under warranty...

btw, this is the progression of my mood from receiving my car keys yesterday from Acura, to getting in my car and seeing the crap job they did:

:wow:

I've gotten RSX-S's and CL-S 6speeds as borrowers. Borrower meaning I take out their demo car all day and return it the same day when my car is ready. If your sales rep was cool, he'll hook you up.

Peter,

I got 4 new rotors and pads at 28k. First time in for that fix. I guess it depends on the dealership.

That's a pretty good deal; I wish all dealerships were standardized when it came to warranty work ...
