One of my worst nightmares came true tonight....my WDP 00 TL was in an accident and worse--it was my fault. I was driving down a 4 lane road in town around 40-45. The cars ahead were up a very good distance away. I looked down for a second to push the speed dial key to call my friend and I look up and BAM! Someone apparently slammed on brakes up there hard because I was way back; otherwise I wouldn't have looked down. I didn't have time to hit the brakes at all. But get this, I stand behind Acura even more now. I hit full force, both bags deployed, hood bent, headlights and bumper cover messed up...BUT the car was still running after I hit! When the tow truck guy went to put the trans in gear, I said hold on...turned the key to on and pulled it in N. Well I turned it too far accidently and the car was starting up. Radiator is messed up.

The tow guy said b/c it's a 00 and both bags blew that they will total it. I don't know. I took pics with my phone so I'm trying to get them loaded onto my photobucket now. I'll post some as soon as I get them.


I'm sick. It was going in for a t-belt and w/p either tomorrow or next week. It had 100k on it. I don't know if they'll total it or not, but I don't want to drive something that's been previously hit. It's never the same. We'll see what happens.

Right now, I have a 2nd car to drive. I bought a 90 Taurus SHO as a toy to screw around with (paid $2k cash for it), so I'll use it for now. If they total it, maybe I'll take the insurance $, sell the Taurus, and see what I can get. I'm tempted to buy a $3000 POS to drive because it sucks to have nice things that get messed up. The Taurus is too unreliable to have as a daily driver.

I'm working on the pics. I'll post them as soon as I get them. I'm just really pissed off right now. Why coudln't it have been my POS Taurus SHO that I just bought this weekend for $2k. I'd rather have totally lost it than lose my TL.

I know, I don't wanna hear any crap about you should do this or that. I know, it was my fault. I rear ended this car and she went into the car in front of her. Either way, their cars weren't bad off. The camry had a messed up bumper, maybe exhaust and under cladding. The pathfinder in front if it just had a bent bumper. I need to up my property damage coverage. It's only at like 25k. Bodily injury is at 50/100 and uninsured motorist is like 20/40.

today as I was alongside a big whatever SUV in a narrow 2 lane construction area, when I had a ~feeling~ to drop back
(well known radar area so no speeding up), moments later...
casually into my lane about 2 feet comes said Suburban Assault Vehicle, then wanders back across the line. Had I been there... it was mangle the car to the right and not get hit, or make sure the other car hits you in the process or you get screwed- no contact- not their fault
But there was NO way the TL was interested in that sort of ending- she just got all fixed up!

When I got my TL it was bone stock down to the tire choice, The former lady owner cried and said it was like her child leaving home.
I said- its ok- she is going off to college hehehehehehe
Now, Who wants to experiment with thermodynamics and traction/friction testing!!

One time- I had just parked and gone into a place for lunch
1 lane each way and a guy decides to look down at the radio at 35 mph, when he looks back up its ALLLLLLLLL brakelights and coming fast.
To the right is a major ditch which will roll the El Camino and death is certain.
To the left is a solid line on very slow oncoming traffic headed by an elderly couple in Honda.
The guy decides he can shoot the tube- create a center lane where none exist- hoping the oncoming dives to its right and gives him room
He takes out the entire left side of the Honda, breaks his suspension and slides right thru the 1st parking spot I had choosen... and then moved my car around the back for safety.

He came to rest in the parking spot next to my car (gulp)

I just really wanna cry now. That car was my "child" essentially. I was proud of it, it was paid for, and I'd planned on keeping it another 3 years. This totally sucks. I had full coverage on it of course, and the damage wasn't too bad on the other cars so my measly $25k property damage should cover it, but I will definitely up that to like $100k now.

Now since we have established that it's totaled---absolute BEST case scenario they give me $10k for it. My 00 Civic with 64k was totaled back in 04 (not my fault that time) and it was worth about 10k private party and I got 12,200.

Do I go for an 02-03 TL and finance (ack) a little $ and deal w/ the tranny crap or move to a Lexus ES or just buy a beater car and stick the $ in the bank? Right now I don't know. I am so sick right now. I'm having some shots tonight to calm down...go jagerbombs. Ugh, what a horrible night. Why couldn't have been the SHO instead.

and glad to hear you're ok. i almost hit someone today cause i looked to my right in disgust at the rice civic, camaro in front of me turned left, but slammed brakes halfway. i had to swerve right real quick to avoid him, and almost got sidewalled by a bus

I'll see what I get out of my car. I have a Honda Aquatrax that I'm paying $255/mo. for the next 2.5 yrs. (Because I had no car payment!). I don't want to sell that; I may sell my Taurus. I'm thinking about an 04 RL. They are built like a brick $hithouse and not too expensive. The 05+ are too much and I want to avoid alot of debt. I'm in a good career now and debt sucks---so does driving a POS car. I am so loyal to Honda/Acura though I wouldn't want to buy anything else unless it was a Lexus.

You guys don't know how much this hurts.....well some of you TL lovers that lost yours do....it's horrible. I'm not married nor do I have kids, but man, this is really awful. I'm so disgusted right now.

The pics I took w/ my camera phone weren't worth a crap. My BlackBerry isn't wanting to cooperate tonight and I'm too pissed off right now. I'm sure I'll stop by the body shop tomorrow and snap some daytime pics of it. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy this nice buzz and try to get some rest.

I know a guy around Pine Level/Prattville area that's currently fixing my 2000 TL for around $1800. Both airbags were blown, bad damage to the hood, bumper, grill, grill centerpiece and both headlight assemblies. Also he's taking out all the dents in the bodyparts he's not replacing and a brand new paintjob. I don't have great pics of the damage, but I'll upload some pictures of the end result of his work.

One thing is there were a good many delays, but they were all crazy stuff. The guy set his back on fire a few days ago, for example. It's had me ready to pull my hair out, but tomorrow I get to see my baby again.

damn that sucks dude. im sorry it had to happen to you, that kind of shit could happen to anybody. there are so many times when im messin with the cd player or dialing on my phone that someone could just slam on their brakes like that. just a wrong place at the wrong time kinda thing.

who knows, maybe you'll enjoy ur next car even more. we cant rewind to the past so just keep lookin up and move forward.

Since I rear ended them, I am worried. Alot of people use that excuse to be "hurt" or actually they are hurt. My bodily injury limits are 50k per person/100k per occ.

There were only 2 other people, 1 driver in each car alone. I am worried. Will my insurance be enough to cover them if they have any injuries? I don't want to get sued. They were up walking around and talking and didn't complain of pain that I heard, but they say it can come after the fact.
