Muffler question...

So, my friend backed my car up into a tall curb a few days ago. The right muffler got pushed forward, and the exhaust pipe actually broke into the muffler. The muffler is also a little bent up. My Check Engine light came on after it happened, so I'm assuming something's not quite working right. I took the car to a shop to get it straightened out and rewelded, so that's working for the time being. But I think I'm going to change the muffler.

Do you guys know how much an OEM muffler will cost? Since its only one, I would hate to spend the money to change both of them. But if you know of a good, inexpensive aftermarket solution, I'm all ears...

Thanks

i got Comptech on mine and i love the way it looks and even more i love the sound . They are expensive but to me worth it. There are few other companies i think that make aftermarket exhausts for TLS why not spend a little more and get some chrome. my $0.02

Magnaflow makes a really good muffler (not talking from experience, but apparently they're quality mufflers for half the price of CT. Plus they sound nice.)

a new muffler should be the least of your worries. that check engine light means you prob broke off a sensor further up the exhaust system.Id check that out first. good luck

Thanks for all your guys' help. I found an OEM muffler for $173 online. I'm still entertaining ideas about possibly changing both of them, though. I'm a little confused about the check engine light...does that mean that there is something wrong with the sensing system (I've had to change O2 sensors in other cars because of the light) or something not right in the emmisions itself? If its the latter, then couldn't a bent up muffler be choking the exhaust, thereby changing the emmissions balance?

ya thats very possible BUT another real possibility is that the whole exhaust sytem got shoved forward a few inches and it could have broken the ox sensor which is directly under the front seats. I guess you'll know soon enough
