Mud guard marks Need help to remove....

I took my mud guards off and it left some white marks.. You can feel the marks when you rub over them. Need some help... Dont know how to get it off anyone know how? I was thinking getting a complete buff on the car because i need it anyways its been a year since the last one. Will the buff get it out?

it might....take it to a body shop or reputable detail shop and have them give you an estimate, that is if they can get it out!

sup man, i'd start off with some NO. 7 compound.....they're avail at sears hardware, and a few other places.....they've got different kinds of abrasive......try rubbing compound (really abrasive), then polishing compound, then clearcoat compound, then wax it.....doing that will make the marks as good as they'll ever get....THEN you'll have a better idea on what you should do, if you can notice the marks. hope this helps. -shawn

It's gonna require a repaint. This is a common problem with the mudguards. They have a sharp edge and they dig right into the clear/paint. Ain't no compound gonna fix it. You're missing clearcoat and/or paint.

NSX and fsttyms are correct - i have the same problem on my 99 and it's gonna take a repaint to get them completely gone

you CAN make them less noticeable with some compound, polish and wax, but the marks will still be there

i've learned to live with them for now.....i barely notice them unless i squat down and look for em

the mud gaurds arent glued on they are fastened only by acouple screws in the wheel well. the edge of them cuts the paint to the metal. googone will do absoutly nothing.

I'm thinking of purchasing mud guards for the winter. What should I put between it and the paint so that I don't run into this issue?

Could this be made a warranty issue?

I thought that if you have accessories installed at the time of purchase that the accessories are covered under warranty. I would think that if those accessories caused the damage to the vehicle that it would be covered...

I've stated this in previous threads ages ago, but there wasn't much follow up discussion.

Any lawyers care to chime in!

u know the funny/sad story about my mud guards.. well last winter it was crazy snow here in jersey... one night i was driving a lot.. than at one point in the 30mph zone, front end of the car just dropped to the floor.. litterally.. i went outside thinking a flat tire.. but nope.. THERE WAS NO WHEEL GAP!! found out that there was so much snow built up and a big block of ice built up.. then it stayed there... so when i made a turn, the joint popped out and axle just broke clean off!!

no more mud guards for me..
