MR2 Turb Vs. S

Sup all, it was a nice chilly night on Friday night around 2am. Me and my friend were heading back to the city...I was in my bone-stoke S and he was driving a modded black 94' MR2 Turbo.(nice nice car). We began to fool around in the highway of route 347. When it came to the end of the road emerging to the highway, we stopped for the red light, and once the light turned green, we both hit it, emerging to the Nothern State Pkwy, at around 60 to 70 mph, he was about half a car to a car ahead of me. After the 70 mark, I caught up with him, and we were about dead even. Then around 100mph I ACTUALLY got ahead of him, but all of sudden out of nowhere he then just zoomed by me going around 120-130mph making it around 1-2 car lengths ahead of me. I was shocked that my car actually got a lil head up against it. There was no way I was going over 120mph. So i just let him go. Damn those MR2's are fast...but toward the end..my friend came up to me saying that my car was pretty fast for a sedan. That just made my day! I told him wait till I start modding.

Well a stock '94 MR2 Turbo makes 200hp 200 ft-lbs. and is RWD.

Since its a manual, lets assume he loses maybe 20-30hp or so, so maybe 170-180hp at the wheels? If an intake and exhaust help him a lot, he could be closer to 200hp and with a weight of only 2657 lbs, the car could easily be faster than ours (Type S automatics make around ~210 hp at the wheels on average, not to mention the TL-S weighs almost 1000 lbs more at ~3574 lbs) ... So it doesn't sound crazy that he could keep up with our cars.

Turbocharged cars can gain a good bit of power with a good exhaust. It's relatively easy to pick up more power with a turbo. Just dail in a little more boost and instant power. (reliability goes down though)

that's what I figured...a properly tuned MR2 Turbo can do the 1/4 mile in high 10's...in which case we'd have no chance :p
