motor mount question

Hey guys I need to replace my motor mounts (getting ready to buy OEM). Do I need new brackets or anything else or just reuse the old ones? Thanks for any advice

you should not need new brackets, unless they are cracked or broken. the bracket is a casted piece of aluminium that is bolted to the engine, depending on what shape the mounts are in it wouldn't hurt to look at the brackets for damage. but changes are they are just fine.

you should be good using the old bracket. They are very thick and rugged. I'd be surprised to find broken one.

make sure to price compare with our sponsoring dealers
see vendor list link next to the Log Out box

the front and pass side are most common failures

How do you know you need new mounts ? Have you done the "rocking" test ?

If you do need new ones, there is plenty of advice in the DIY section. Not a hard job, just awkward.

I just replace my side motor mount on my 2003 TL-s today. I torqued the two bolt on the motor to 40 ft-lb. The large bolt and the three that hold the motor mount to the frame to 47 ft-lb. Is this correct?

The Acura Service Manual (I have one) Says 28 FT Lb's for the Bolts on the motor mount that attach it to the engine. 40 is correct for the top bolt.
