Mother's Carnuba wax

I just used the Mother's carnuba wax on my black 00 TL, and I was having a real hard time removing it after applying it. The paint job is still in really good condition. Should I use a polish instead of a wax? If so, what brand? Thanks.

I recently waxed my 03 for the first time after having it for a year. I used Maguires Gold Class. It was so hard to get off. I did it 11 days ago and I am still finding more to take off. But if you dont do it often It is always going to be hard to take off.

I used it for a while now and it is okay to take off. The paste is definitely harder than the liquid version.

I use the liquid(ish) carnuba from Mothers... great stuff, never a problem getting it off. I use it on my black TL, the silver MDX and my Cessna, works like a dream to keep them pretty.

I used Mothers Carnuba on my Civic and it was just to thick for me. I mean I put light coats on or so I thought, but it was a pain to get off.

I spent a half day washing and waxing my Black Chev truck, probably about two years ago.
1 coat - McGuiar's step 1 cleaner
1 coat - McGuiar's step 2 polish
3 coats - McGuiar's - Gold Class Wax

The truck looked PERFECT, Just like the commercial it loked like liquid, my arms hurt like hell after half a day of ( wax-on - wax-off ) but every time I have washed it the shine comes back almost exactly as if I had just waxed it.

I've always had the best results when I have put 3 or 4 coats of wax on at one time, the shine seems to last alot longer than if you were going to wax the car(1 coat) every month or two.

Just did mine over the weekend. Just like ResidualFreedom stated, it took me about 1/2 day and it gave me a good workout. I used Mother cleaner wax, McGuire Polish, and then McGuire Gold Class Wax. My NBP TL-S looks wonderful!

and how does that cleaner and polish stuff work on a clear coat? i've heard some polishers and cleaners can "eat" the clear coat.. so i am quite careful.. but always open to new stuff to clean my cars/plane with

How often do u use the cleaner and polish? Do you need to remove the wax before you wax the car again? I wax it about every 2 weeks.... I am not sure if the layers are accumlating.

I would assume as long as you clean the car before you wax, you should be alright. you obviously don't want to get dirt trapped between the layers of wax. I would do the 3 step process and put on 2 to 3 coats of wax and then you might be able to wax your car every month or month and a half, instead of every two weeks.

Does the car look like it needs a new coat of wax after 2 weeks? Is that why you are doing it?

The water still beads a little but I like the shine and smoothness. Someone told me that if u put on another coat of wax it takes off the old coat so at one time u can never get more than 1 coat. I am new to waxing... actually to everything. TLS is my first car.

What's this business about claying before waxing? What's the clay's function and how do you apply it? Thanks.

Claying removes extra crap so you don't cover it with the wax.

Claying is amaizing! Unbelievable how much crap that clay gets off and how easy it does it with such little effort.

u can't layer most waxes. polyers you can layer, but just regular wax you don't get any improvement.

use some quick detail spray or glaze for extra shine if that's what you're going for.

I hear different stories about that layering. So does Mother's Carnuba Paste wax get layers?
