Mothers Car Wash = Bye Bye Zaino!
I recently ran out of Zaino's Z-7 car wash, so I sent for another batch of supplies. In the mean time, some rain came and messed the car up with mud. I just couldn't stand seeing it dirty, so I went to the local auto parts store and bought a bottle of Mothers California Gold car wash.
I washed the car once, and I thought the surface felt surprisingly sticky after I dried it, especially compared to the slippery glass-smooth Zaino coats. I thought nothing of it.
Well it rained again and my Zaino supplies haven't arrived. So I decided to wash it again. This time the Zaino coats have definitely been dissolved away! The paint was sticky and the water left water spots all over the car (never a problem with Zaino).
Needless to say I immediately applied a new coat of Z2 after I got rid of all the water spots!
Moral of the story: Mother's Cali Gold car wash is not compatible with Zaino! It will strip the coats away.

I'm sticking to Zaino as far as the "wax" goes; I used Mother's car wash only because I ran out of Z-7 and I'm waiting for my order to arrive.

It's really amazing about car wash products that claim they don't strip wax . . . but do anyway.
The WORST offenders are your friendly neighborhood ACURA dealers. I know they are trying to be nice but it drives me nuts, when I ask them nicely not to wash the car and they do it anyway. Last time the service manager wrote "DO NOT WASH CAR!" in big black letters all over the work order - but of course, who reads those things, anyway. "Oops! Sorry. Don't worry we didn't scratch it."
My next trip to the dealer I'm gonna get a sign in English and Spanish with maybe some kind of diagram and masking tape it to my steering wheel.
