Question More Ponies....are we sacraficing something

3.2 litre 225 hp. Now we've got a Type-S with the same base 3.2 litre now pressing 260+ hp. Is there a trade-off for this additional power? Reliability?? Longevity?? Defficiencies??

Nope, as reliable as they come, why would they have the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty if they had to fix alot of it? doesnt make sense, hondas are really reliable...

Type-s has a higher compression ratio - 10.5 vs the 9.8 of the regular TL. Hence premium fuel is more of a necessity in the Type-s.

I think the concern for Acura was the tranny and it was "beefed up" to handle the extra power. Even with the 99-01's, pushing even 300hp will hurt the tranny, but they were finally being proactive I guess.

The reliablity should not suffer, because the initial engineering design of the TypeS motor was to produce the higher output, whereas our TL's have a different design. I just don't understand why they don't just offer the higher output engine standard? I would think the design cost would be less. Plus, that engine would kick ass...

It's all about business. I think they just wanted to make some $$ off of the enthusiasts. But they still couldn't neglect those that are mellow. That's probably why they decided to offer two trim levels.

If I was given a chance to buy a TL right now, I'd definately go with the *S*. But I'm sure there are those (older folks) that could care less about hp.

Man with a few renditions, we should be able to takem'... I think people would be going the right way gettin' a CAI... Next, exhaust and headers... High flow catalytic converter anyone??? Most importantly, Supersonic sparkplugs... Here I go again, because im confident that my $hit can take a type-$, I got the grippier tires than it for the curves, and then engine power is all there, bring it ...
