Mods on a LEASED Car

Any thoughts on the repercussions on modding a leased car? Not sure if I'm going to buy it out at lease end, but any experience with say, putting headers on a leased car and then maybe taking the headers out at lease end and putting stock headers back on?????

Here's what I was told about the mods on my Accord, which was a lease. If I'm going to keep the car, they (finance company) dont care. However, if you're going to return it, they'll want the vehicle returned in unmodified form--completely. NOTE: In returning it, they'll look for ANY reason to lump add'l charges on you.

If you're just going to add headers and then swap back the stock headers prior to lease turn-in, you'll be OK.

Peace.

i hope its okay, cuz i already did it on my leased tl.

as long as you swap it back BEFORE the lease end inspection, no problem.

there will be no way for the guy to tell, as long as its only basic stuff like headers, intake, etc.

If you want to pay for installation and uninstallation of mods... you'll be fine. Of course you could always do everything yourself and save the double costs.

But everyone above is correct... you need to turn the car in the way you bought it... 100% stock....

In the end, the dealer cares about one thing and one thing only: The resale ability of their car. If you swap the headers and exhaust on a lease, they don’t hive a ****. Why? Because the person they are going to sell it to won’t have to do anything ever to maintain them, and they will never know its there. They will be happy knowing that they got just another normal TL. Even though its not.

The dealer would care about something like intake, cosmetic customizations, cleared headlights, springs.

As long as you can’t tell your trade in from the other cars on the lot and there’s nothing that requires maintenance or is a risk to the health of the car (intake) then they just don’t care.

Just make sure you gank your wheels and your sway bars off there cause the techs in back will take them if you dont

This was all explained to me by my buddie that's sevice manager down here at Crown Acura. Of cource, he was "off the clock" when he told me ehehehe

darkshear, i have to disagree with you. are you suggesting to return the car after lease with aftermarket headers/exhaust?

i don't think this will work, it will be noticeable, especially with the extra noise. imho, these would have to be removed and returned to stock in order to not risk any extra charges by the dealer.

it is annoying to pay the extra expense for removal, but it is possible to make that $$ back by selling the aftermarket parts once you are done with them.
