I have created an email called tltranny@hotmail.com everyone who has had a problem with their 1999 TL tranny, whether it has since been fixed or not, should shoot an email to that. It will help keep track of everyone, and allow me to contact you when we get a lot of people and we need further information. It will also be better because not everyone will be able to see your email address (as opposed to posting here). I understand this is the internet so if you guys feel more comfortable with giving this to a moderator or something on here, I understand. Lets just get the ball rolling though. I'mnot going to even attempt sending American Honda motor company a petition with less than 50 people. They won't take it seriously and it will make any future attempts at this look bad. My sister is a state district attorney so I am willing to do the letters, and paperwork (as long as it doesn't get TOO costly on my part, or start taking too much time on her part) as a volunteer.
even if we don't get them to honor everyones warranty, I highly suggest you guys with the 1999 tl to post here. The reason is, if we can get a fair amount of people, we still have a chance to get OUR TL's fixed, as long as our name is on the list. Honda may want to 'settle' it to avoid giving them a bad reputation. If we complain about it long enough, they may have to do this for us, if not every 1999 TL owner with tranny problems.
I would also like some help on crafting a petition on Petitiononline.com. That will really help to get the word out. If we can accomplish this, and posting on various car related forums on the internet, particularly honda forums, i'm sure we can ge hundreds of signatures.
any thoughts?
Come on, just a sticky post, I am sure the mods just didn't see the post of the admin havn't see this yet...
E-mail me at SL1200MK4@sympatico.ca. I can put up a website and have a list of those people who had problem with their tranny, e-mail me I will update the list for you... But of course that would be the case only when the mods aint' helping out.

Bobatimez:
I have been receiving some emails which will be stored on my computer. (when we figure out how were' going to go about collecting data for each case (thru webpage as suggested, or email..) I will add those.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that one of us (i'm doing it for now, but that can change based on what the consensus wishes) should get the emails of people. There are a couple reasons i think emailing would be better:
1) Some people just come on this site once in a while, or dont' check it regularly, however, they may be just as concerned as the active Acura-TL.com members, for this reason, we can always contact them thru email, regardless if they read the thread or not.
2) Once we have everyones email (most email progs like outlook express makes it easy to save senders email addy's), we can send batch messages just to the people needed, and correspond thru that instead of having to type up Acura-TL.com every time. (saves on page load time)
3) I do, however think this thread should be kept active with updates and anyone who is concerned should post that they are on this thread. But when the time comes to ask for vin numbers, names, etc. that should probably be done in a more discreet manner.
anyone elses thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks bobatimez

Count me in.
I took it to the dealer for slow shifting. They Powerflushed it and sent me home. It has worked fine since but I'm nervous.

In your opinion, what is the best way to approach going to a dealer to get my out of warranty tranny fixed?
any tips?
i'm going to try doing that, maybe on a morning when they aren't busy at all. or maybe i should try it on a busy day, and it might get serviced without them catching on? I have 56k miles. The one benefit i see is now, we are the only year in that shape that doesn't have the tranny warranty extended. the servicemen may have had to do it a lot with other, qualified cars, so mine might slip by??

When my second tranny went(79K miles) the dealer told me that I would have to pay for it. I absolutely refused to pay a penny for the repair. I told them it wasn't my fault and I didn't pay 30K for a car that would have tranny issues. The service manager personally called Acura for me and handled the situation and was able to get all expenses paid for. The first step I would take would be taking my car to a great dealership with an awesome service manager like Park Ave Acura.

Oh man...
I remember everyone had nothing but praise for that dealership. Even 2 years ago, people were complimenting that place.
I live in HOUSTON tho. i can't drive that far. my choices are John Eagle, Sterling Mcall, and Gillman acura.

It is peculiar how they do not offer the extended warranty out of a certain range. Yet people are having serious problems. If you have a model that is older than the warranty and our having problems, you've been cheated. And to put the extended warranty on only some of the 2003's? IT DOESN'T ADD UP...They are just trying to save money.

My 99 TL is having the tranny replaced right now with 88k miles. I had to call acura customer line and opened a case, they finally decided to give me a new tranny as a one time favor :p
I have a 99 too
