thats interesting, i was thinking it would still be slowly leaking while the filter is off... good to know though. So why do you think that M1 filter can't go beyond 7,500 ? does it get badly clloged? M-104 seems big, and should have enough capacity

The small print says that its only guaranteed to 25K when used with Amsoil oil. I have my opinions about Amsoil, I even used it once.... I just dont see why I should be paying a lot more when Mobil1 5qt jugs are so cheap at wallmart

I'll never go 25k anyway. I've been changing it out at 10k lately. I do it for piece of mind. Car runs super smooth, gets great mileage, starts right up at any temp and the oil looks decent after 10k of use.

I never said they couldnt, i was saying if you want the best possible protection to change. People get sooooooooooooooooooo hung up on the tiny details its not funny. They act as though the motor wont last if they use one product over another. Sure some filters may be constructed better than others but if one was that bad they wouldnt be in business. I can get frams best filter for 7-8 dollars less than the M104.

Search around. I get my amsoil about 2 dollars cheaper per oil change than M1. (and in my last oil change it tested better than M1 has for me)

Kris, that's absolutely new to me that one can fill oil without a filter on. Learn something new everyday. Thanks!

The filter would have to be mounted lower than the drain plug/oil level for oil to come out without the motor running.
