Mid muffler deleter and test pipe

Hey guys, I have an 03 TL-S with stock exhaust and did the mid muffler delete for some time now. I love the sound and the level of loudness is just perfect for me, and no raspiness at all. Just yesterday, I had a fabricated test pipe installed. Sound is similar at low RPM but when I floor it, the sound is really raspy and annoying. I want to keep the test pipe for sure since I noticed some gains but how would I fix the raspiness? Right now I am thinking of putting the mid muffler back... do you know if that will help? Anyone out there with a TLS with test pipe + stock exhaust? Please advise. Thanks

Cutting the cat will usually result in rasp. You might have to put on an aftermarket resonator.

You can try it, but I think you'll still have rasp. It's pretty difficult to eliminate rasp if you have a test pipe.

Deleting the cat isn't going to give you any more than 3hp gain. It's not really worth it imo.

Honestly with stock headers and stock exhaust, you probably won't even see 3hp gain.

It only becomes worth it to get a HFC or test pipe after you get headers and a catback. Even then, you already have a TL-S cat, so it's not gonna be worth the rasp.

Where did you read it was more? I could imagine maybe 5hp at most, but it's still not worth the rasp.

Welcome Jb2000 !!!
Is your present exhaust in need of replacement ?
Choices include stock oem or custom cat back systems.

The ultimate factors in deciding "what to do" are your desired result along with your budget available. What more do ya need to know, Huh ?
