OK I'll try to make this short and simple, My good friend just got a 330ci. to him this is the car to have reminding that he only drove 4cyl all his like till now. well anyway he brags about how he can take me.
So the other day we decided to give it a shot and I took him the firts time by like a car lenth. This is on route 21 north going to Newark then made a u turn coming back on south side of 21 and tried it again from about 40 mph start we were even till about 88-95mph then I get in front of him and made it to 123mph and when I look back he's about 3 car behind.
I felt bad because this thing costs him like 600$ a month and this is no joke, he tell me later that
" ohh I didnt push the car all the way if I did I would beat you "

bull **** I told him. so anyway.

Has anyone else spanked 330's with a regular 3.2 TL

oh and now his brother that has a clk430 wants a pice of me too I think he will definatly spank me

i raced a 330ci 2 days ago,
there was soem traffic so we couldt get to high spees, but then there was this one str8 away, he rippedit so did i , i was right behind him because nowhere else to go, bu ti was on his asss, it felt like we were acceleratign almost same speeds, then i puled away, didnt want to miss my exit u know

Was his car a manual?? Was he really racin' u?? Those 330's are pretty quick man. I've raced my friends 330ci and he gives me the business every single time. I love my TL and everything but that sh1t will never spank a 330.

yeah I think this car is faster then the 330 plus they only top out at 128 mph acording to BMW we are like in the 140's I think. its a shame cause it cost about 15,000 more than my car and to think the WRX can spank both for an even cheaper price, make me sick to think about it :yack:

The stock TL can't beat 330i whether its auto or stick. 330i will beat TL without any problem.

330's are fast fast cars...they are very agile on the freeway...nothing like getting spanked by an M3 though, damn thats one fawking fast ass car:wow:...330 will not get spanked by the TLP, so maybe he wasn't pushing it...Shyne

ok TL-P VS 330 manual is a joke.... but the 330 auto (7.0) might be a good race... i won't say who will win... but i will say that it will be a good race

330 aint that quick as yall think it ish cuz its a bmw and it has stereotypical that it has lots of power . . . i think the m3 took all the power . .. hhahA. i was suprised myself to find out that the 330 does not have much power . . . i still love the car . . hhehE it has enough speed . . .

ok, i have driven the TL and 330 AND the 328 fairly extensively and hate to say this on a TL message board, but a 330 can spank a TL. there really is no comparison when you speak of sportiness. the TL is a great cruiser for long highway trips with passengers, but the 3-series is a serious enthusiast's car. bmw engines are just more responsive and torquey at all rpms, and they handle like no other cars i've ever driven. that being said, the TL is a good 10K cheaper and has all the ammenities that one can ask for.

well it is a new car and he's not used to it but, he is out of his mind and he loves to drive fast so I dont know, and no its no joke

but it was fun as hell when he ask me how much power I had, I told him the same as you, and then he says he was not pushing the car hard so, I anything new happens I'll let you guys know it

okay... seriously... very seriously...

the 330 might not be able to SPANK you... but it's really hard to believe that TL can have 3 cars on the 330... Let's not talk about aerodynamics for a sec here...

The gearing alone, will make the 330 pull on the TL above 100mph...

I guess he really did back off a bit at the end of the race. TL pulls decently in 1/2/3rd gears... But above 100mph... that's usually when I give it all up...

Like i said the regular TL will have problem beating 330i.

BTW, from my own experience, the TL will even have outgunning the 530i.

Depsite 530i being heavier, its gearing plus throttle by wire makes a huge difference. I have no problem getting beat by my wife in my 530i while I am in the TL.

TL does not launch as strongly as people make it out to be.

hummm well then I guess he was'nt really pushing it cause thats what I had on him, c-mon thin about it why would I wast time on typing this **** if its not real I dont know about you guys but I got alot more **** to do than to sit here and make up stuff. I wrote about it cause I found it funny that I beat him and as a member I figure you should all know just in case you run into the same issue

BMW's auto transmissions are some of the slowest I've ever felt. BMW decided smooth-shifting was more important than speed I guess. My mom has the 3-series station wagon, with the AT, and I can't believe how sluggish the transmission is. Oh, and if you think our SportsShift is sluggish and unresponsive, go try BMW's. You can shift up, shift up, shift up, and maybe if the car is in a good mood, it'll finally change gears. Also I can't get that car to redline, the ECU/transmission just won't let you. So while a TL-P can't take a stick 330i, I'd believe it could take the auto version just fine, just because the transmission is holding back the engine so much.

As for the extra money a BMW costs... I think the superior build quality and handling of a BMW alone justifies the extra premiums. Don't get me wrong, I love the TL but Acura's build quality just can't compare to BMW's these days. I really think Acura is declining in this area, as my Vigor's interior felt much more solid. Oh and the handling, its embarassing but I have to admit my mom's station wagon can out handle any TL any day (I made sure she got the sport package )

I own both a 2001 330xi (auto) and 2000 TL. I can tell you that the 330xi auto will spank my TL left and right any day. The 330 has a beautifully refined engine/drivetrain combo.
