Question mats for mats thing? the clear mat

I'm looking for something to protect my new floor mats, and I noticed Tim is selling these clear mats and fits perfectly over the stock ones. but, i did also notice these look like the ones you use for your computer chair. and do these actually punture into the stock floor mats? It appears to look like it. Let me know if the bottom is actually smooth or not. Thanks.

I think they'd have to have those little spikes to hold it in place....otherwise they'd be moving around a lot. IMO, the best way to protect your mats is to vaccum them on a regular basis and to clean off any stains ASAP.

You always gotta put forth the effort for your car, man....especially one as nice as ours! (since we have the exact same car). On my former TL, I had all-weather rubber mats over the OEM ones for the winter but they left imprints in them. It was a b!tch to get them out. So this year I took out the OEM ones in my TL-S and my mom's TL and threw in the all-weather ones. You're lucky that you don't need them....damn, I want so bad to go back down to Cali.

I bought a complete set here from Tim, and I'm VERY happy with them. They do have the little spikes on the bottom, but they don't damage the existing mats.

Okay, so maybe they don't look the hottest, but after the rainy season here in Northern California (maybe 2 months?!? - sorry guys!), I take the plastic covers out and my floor mats look brand new!! No work, no cleaning of stains - nothing!

I thought they'd look funky at first, but now I don't even notice 'em. Give 'em a try!

Yeah, you're supposed to use the all-weather mats instead of the OEM mats!

By the way, I think the all-weather mats were the best $50 I spent last year. My only regret is that I didn't buy it from Tim--I dithered about buying them until the first real snow in Kansas City was about to hit that week. I reserved one of the remaining 2 sets at Superior Acura and rushed over to pick them up.

They're very sturdy and they keep the water and salt away from your carpeting. And you can simply hose and scrub them down to clean them. Very convenient.

I got those mats-for-mats from tim also. They work very well.

One quick tip... cut a hole in the front two to take advantage of the retension clip that already holds down your oem mats, this will prevent them from moving around on ya'

rubber mats

I got some thick rubber mats from weathertech and they work great, got beige or black sets. They are much better than oem's carpet. Pricey though.
