the gain depends on your car, (type-s or not) think type-s is a max of 30hp and the non type-s probably 10-20hp
don't know where to get them cheap
not sure about the downpipe

there is a Dyno for the non Type S on the Comptech website....dont get too excited the max is like 18HP for the header/exhaust combo....not worth my $1100 +. Dont expect to get them cheep either, maybe a hundred bucks off durring a group buy, but one just ended so who knows when the next will be.

Now if you have the Type S, it may be more worth your time and money.

1) do a search
2) do a search
3) no you do not (good question though).

Headers are awesome are are worth it. I have obxs for over a year and no breakage yet (never know). I couldn't imagine this car without the headers. Best deal would be to find a used set of CTs for 600-800 bucks in my opinion.

Although OBX are known for breaking, I still go them because they give you the same gains and are a LOT cheaper. Comptech headers just aren't worth the $1100.

Another option would be the Stone Headers. Bit more expensive than the OBX headers, but the quality also better too. I know of only one person that could not get the Stone Headers installed (bad luck in getting headers that don't fit). And I believe the gains on the Stone Headers are slightly better than the OBX ones.

I wouldn't say that the OBX headers are known for breaking.... a handful of people had problems, yes... but 98% of the people who bought and installed them are running them without a single problem. Very much worth the $300-$400 they sell for......

I have the obx headers and they have not caused any problems other than resonance but that has been taken cared of. I also have my obx headers coated, so yeah...ok. Good product.

VSOP,how did you resolve your resonance issue? I'm installing my OBX's this weekend and would like to avoid the resonance...

Get lock nuts and new bolts. Don't use the ones that obx gives you. Just get some new ones at Home depot. Thats what I did and no more resonance. Before I took them off to get them coated. I had lost two nuts and bolts because of the vibration or resonance from the obx nuts and bolts. But yeah, I tried that and it worked for me.

Stone headers are $400 shipped and they are awesome. I have them on for a few month with no cracks or anything. Talk to Nashua at A-CL.com

I actually already bought new bolts and nuts from Home Depot cuz the OBX's were a little stripped (I got them used for $200 from a member on the CL site, he had them on his car for a month with no problems before he decided to sell his car). Don't you mean lock washers? I never heard of lock nuts before. Anyone ever use JB Weld to add some added weld protection against cracks at the weld points? What about adding lock tight or JB weld to the bolts and nuts to help with the resonance issue from vibrating loose?

No, I mean lock nuts. Not lock washers. The point of coating the headers is to 1.) keep the heat down, more heat retention 2.) I hated the ugly goldish tarnish color stainless steel turns into after a while of use, thus with coating that is not going to happen. I think it makes a lot of sense to coat headers it doesn't make sense to make stainless steel headers because stainless isn't exactly very good for use for high heat applications.

got headers

I just pulled my Comptech headers off an 03 TL-S I traded. They're blued from heat, but otherwise in good shape. They simply replace the stock headers and connector pipe with no mods. they are a year old and I'll let em go for $600 and shipping. Also have the Injen cold air intake if anybody's interested. Email: jhean@carolina.rr.com with questions. thanx JH

with nitrous

I only know that Comptech's are the best quality, but very pricey. I can tell you that getting air in and exaust out with the smoothest flow and the least restriction is what makes horsepower. I have no experiance with NO2 on these cars.

Where can you get the best prices for the headers?

Stone Header
&
OBX

Anyone have any pics on both or know where I can see them?

I got my headers coated at Polydyn, here in Houston. The color is Goldish brown color. It suppose to handle up to 2400 degrees unlike 1200 degrees(Jet Hot). I don't know it wasn't too bad only costed me $160 as opposed to Jet Hot's $250.
