Manufactuer control fuel air metering??

On my 2000TL the check engine light came on. I took it into this shop to have the run the test. They said that it was the Manufactuer control fuel air metering. Anyone have any idea what this is and how to fix it?

sounds like a hi-tech BS answer for a failed 02 sensor.

Can the computer tell you which sensor is bad?

Yep, our cars have two. One in the downpipe just before the catalytic converter, and the other in the catalytic converter. And yes, the scanner will tell you which one is bad.

When my primary O2 sensor died, it said so; not manufacturer control fuel air metering. Manufacturer control fuel air metering is a very vague term; I wish you would've gotten the actual code. It starts with a P followed by a 4-digit number.

Soooooo true!!

It's probably the O2 sensor. How much did the shop ask for to fix it?
