Major PROBLEM!!!
Major PROBLEM!!!
Haven't posted much on here since my tranny failure, but first and foremost happy new years everyone.. Okay, so I have come across a very huge electrical short in my car which has caused many things to to stop functioning. The short started with my aftermarket amp that was hooked up with with no sub connected. I had taken the sub out because i was moving stuff to my college apartment. So somehow the wires connected to the amp caught fire while i was driving which was the ground and live electrical wire which were run through the door sills on the bottom near the drivers side. Well as many of you know that there is black tubing that runs through there as well which happens to be the wires for the turn signals and other components of the car. While the wire was burning from the amp to the front it caught the black tubing on fire and melted through and also caught wires near the steering column on fire as well. So it shorted out my navigation screen power along with my turn signals and some how tripped all the lights on the dash including abs tcs and another one or two. Now I am frantically looking for a few parts to replace them with and was wondering if anyone with a 2000 acura tl or knows someone who is parting out an early model tl could generously help me as i am on a tight budget being a college student and all.
JUNKYARD , or rewire it yourself, but kinda be a pain in the ass to though
and why was your amp never installed with a fuse
(might of helped to also remove the fuse, if it did in fact have a fuse for it with the sub removed (sounds like the amp was pulled too)

The same thing happened to me bro, I luckly installed a 60amp fuse next to the battery, the fuse melted but the fire didnt go past it. I was lucky in avoiding a big problem.
The easiest way to solve your problem is just get a whole new wire from a junkyard and swap it, next time please use a fuse its a must when running a live power cable.

there is a major ground point under the spare tire too- dont know if relevant to you but good info for others~
Call the local auto dismantler and ask for them to `Hotline` a wiring harness if they dont have one in stock-
hotline connects shops nationwide- like an old school nextel type radio service
