Maintenance Required Light started blinking....

I've just noticed today that the Maintenance light blinked for way longer than after the car was turned on. I lowered the car today, and it has around 45K miles. I want to take it to the dealership so they can find out what is causing it.

My question is that would it be covered under the warranty?

I've heard that on the Accord, the light stay on until you have to take it to the dealership and pay them just so they could just unplug some wires....

Kinda, I was having a brain fart and forgot to check out the search feature, even though I was using it the entire morning..

it doesnt mean the oil "needs" to be changed, its just a preset mileage light that acura built into the cr. once reset it starts flashing around the 7500 mile oilchange interval. as for synthetic you can switch over when ever you want to. just drain and fill!

Hey fsttyms1, is it true that the engine automatically senses synthetic engine oil and doubles the amount of time in between maintenance lights?

Well, the light came on again. I tried to do to reset it several time yet it doesn't go away.

I did my oil change prior to it hitting 50K miles just a month ago and it came on last week. Perhaps you can only do the reset function once?

your doing it wrong if its not going off. ive reset mine well 176,000 miles worth.

make sure your doing it right. hold both buttons in, THEN while holding them in turn the KEY to the RUN position the position right before the car cranks over(you dont have to start it). hold bot buttons in till the light goes off (about 10 seconds)

I tried that. I hold it until after the light goes off, but then the thermometer reading started to count down -3,-2,-1,1,2,3

you did it wrong, you pushed in the buttons AFTER you turned the key. you have to push them in BEFORE you turn the key. it makes a difference how you do it

The maintenance req'd light flashes because the vehicle is do for a service soon. Not an oil change, but an actual service. Air, oil, fuel, tire rotation etc. It comes on and stays on when the service is actually due.
