Thumbs down Maintenance required at 5,600 miles?

Or 5,693 miles to be exact. I've not taken the car in for maintenance yet. I just noticed yesterday that the "maint req'd" light was flashing when I started up the car. I don't know why it's already flashing, especially since the vehicle shouldn't need a maint check until 7,500 miles. Anyone have any ideas why? I'm hoping it just needs an oil change, but I wanted to ask around before taking it in and getting reamed w/ a bill.

It's just an early indication notifying you that your 7,500 miles maintenance is coming up. It will keep blinking until it reaches 7,500 when it will just stay on. Just get an oil change and tire rotation and don't really worry about other stuff they talk about IMO.

Thanks for the info. As for the regular maintenance, do you guys suggest taking it to the dealership or a more generalized place like Jiffy Lube? I have suspicions that my warranty may be voided if I don't get the regular maintenance done by the dealership.

I always take my car into the dealer for oil change. Why not, the dealer by my work actually charges less than Jiffy Lube. The only thing the dealer doesn't do is vacuuming my interior, which I don't really care for.

Correct me if I am wrong

You can hold down both buttons (Trip A & Trip B) on the dash when the key is turned to the on postion for 10 seconds and it will reset itself.... Well atleast that is what my dealer told me to do if it annoys me with in the first 7500 miles..

Do it yourself...the dealership usually uses pretty ****ty oil...they say it's Valvoline or whatever they claim it to be, but it's just plain crud usally..it's the cheapest stuff they can find usally..It is name brand, just the lowest grade they make. It's a lot cheaper to do it yourself and you can put in the kind of oil you like...if you are not into doing it yourself you can always take your own oil with you to the dealer, but they still charge you for labor, etc...which can be 15 bucks or so, plus whatever you paid for your oil and filter. Stick with the HONDA filters though, they are the best.
