My maintenance light came up on my car and now I have to take my car to the dealer and they said it would cost $160 to do the maintenance service. Is there any way I could avoid paying for this and just do it myself. I have no idea what the problem is. Thanks

 

How many miles on the car? Sounds like just routine maintenance. It is the 7.5K/15K/22.5K/30K mile service? You can turn off the maintenance light, but that doesn't make the service that's needed go away

 

That light is to remind you that you are coming due for a 7500 mile service. either you can go to the dealer or do it yourself. Check the maintenace book and do what it reccomends under the severe driving conditions. The type of driving most of us do with these cars does fall under the "severe conditions". To reset the light- just hold the select and reset buttons on the dash in and turn on the key. Keep holding the buttons in till the maintenance light flashes, then release- it should then be reset!
