Hey guys, I just did an oil change on the TL by myself about a month ago. Its around 50,000km. I have scheduled an transmission oil change next saturday. But today the Maintenance Required Light came on. Is this because I didnt bring the car into the dealer to do the oil change or is there something else that might be wrong with the car? Thanks.

 

The yellow maintenance required will flash for a few seconds everytime you start the car at certain mileage intervals. It then will come on & stay on constant if not reset after another preset mileage interval. This is all in the owners manual & you can reset it yourself just by pushing a few buttons. I am not sure if it is in the FAQ section of this forum but do a searh if its not. But its not a problem with the car in general just a reminder.

Why can't you guys explain to our newbie.

To reset the Maintenance Require indicator...

*Press & hold both RESET & SELECT buttons.
*Put the key in ingition in 3rd position(all the indicators on now, don't start the engine).
*Keep hold both RESET & SELECT buttons until the Maintance light goes off.
*Start the engine.

 

One of these days I'm going to rip that damn light out and replace it with a ricey VTEC indicator
