Maintaining the Leather
Maintaining the Leather
Maybe someone might have a suggestion or know the problem that I'm having...
During the winter and early spring, my car was rarely used and spent most of its time in the garage. As I've been more active in the summer, I noticed that weekly the leather in the car, most noticably on the dash and seats, was fading to a dark / medium gray. Not a big deal so after washing my car, I went to work with the Meguiars I had and I thought everything looked good. A day later, the dash looked like I didn't cover it all. It was almost as if little gray spots were forming and then slowly growing. The cover for the passenger-side airbag looked especially bad.
After this happened a few times, I decided to try out the Lexol. So I bought both bottles of cleaner and conditioner and went to work again. I spent about a half hour working just on the top dash part to make sure that everything was cleaned and conditioned thoroughly since it receives the most sun. Later that weekend, driving around, I notice the same damn thing again....
I just wrote it off as one of those things that may never be perfect...It is, afterall the first time with black leather...
Then I went to the dealership to have that transmission jet kit installed and a few other things tuned up. After picking my baby up, I noticed that they also took care of the leather too - except whatever they did lasted for about two weeks. The only thing I notice now is a little fading, again on the passenger side airbag cover.
What am I doing wrong here? Not enough conditioner? Should I be leaving it on longer? What's the best approach?
