M1-105 filter on sale

Partsamerica has the M1-105 for sale for $4.97

http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...rtNumber=M1105

This is the oversize filter for people who is doing the extended oil change. I've been using this filter along w/ Mobil 1 oil for 6 years now @ 7500 miles interval.

I just picked up 10 for my brother and me.

LOL, came up regular price ... I changed zip to 98121 then price changed from 10.99 to 4.97. I was even able to ship to my actual zipcode and still kept the price. I only ordered 6 ... 30K miles worth.

Thanks for the pointer!

Are you sure this is the right filter? According to Mobil 1, an '02 TLS should be using M1104, not M1105. What's the difference between the two?

Question oil filter sizing

I'm not sure if this pertains or not.....but "Honda" has been consolidating most all of their oil filters into a "one size fits all" application part #. Anybody knowing anything more about this consolidation, please comment. It could be that Acura still has a larger filter available ?

The correct model for our car is M1-104. Other users use m1-105 and call it overisze thinking more filter per square inch will do a better job, which is true in general, and of course noone has reported any problem; m1-105 could luckly be still within the spec for the oil pressure. From what I can see, the m1-105 is wider but shorter than the m1-104; so I guess the volume is about the same.

Each manufacturer has a specification for the oil pressure of the oil pump, so by using an incorrect oil filter size is taking a chance who knows what will happen.

Maybe someone can answer this question, would a bigger oil filter has a better oil flow, or oil flow is slower since oil volume is higher than the pressure can handle?

I wonder if more filter is better, then what would happen if I used a 64oz size filter that fits perfectly.

On my other older cars, I have used twice the size of the original oil filter, and one car has more than 250k on it without problem.

Yes m1-104 is the correct size. I use m1-105 because I'm doing oil change every 7500 miles w/ Mobil 1 which a lot of ppl considered too long.

Logic is that w/ the longer oil change interval, you have a higher possibility of clogged filter. Larger filter has more surface area which would alleviate that possibility.

The oil that came out after 7500k is dark brown not black like dino oil w/ only 3000 miles.

I don't have any empirical evidence but that's my 2 cents.
