Question lowering

Hey all,

I've been thinking about lowering my car for quite some time, but I need a reason to. I know it looks good and allows the car to corner at higher speeds, but what else does it do? Will it make the car faster? More aero-dynamic?

If I hear some good things, I'll definitely go with it. However, I need some advice about how to properly lower the car. My friend wanted to go the cheap way and cut the springs to his Prelude. I've seen the results of that and let me tell you that money matters not. I want to do this right and help keep my car healthy for as long as possible. Thanks for the help!

as with all suspension you have your springs and shocks....the springs works to complement the shocks and the shocks work to complement the springs....put two mis matched sets in and you can be in for a horrible ride and unsafe car.....thing is you can get springs with higher spring rates and lower height but the shocks are still stock and are being pushed harder...the only way you can get the best out of your car is simply geting a system that is designed for eachother aka perfect match aka perfect couple....this is where i highly recommend a coilover setup.....some of the brands are tein/apex/zeal/...goes on forever......i would strongly recommend tein's for their reputation and then performance....they also have an edge in price....perhaps i am biased cus i help distribute tein suspensions but its in my honest opinion that you cant go wrong with these....these are height adjustable with 16 way ride settings from soft to firm......with a available 2 slots for custom rebuildable setting to your personal taste......you can look them up at www.tein.com...or email me if you intersted in a set i can get it for you for 900....with is 50 bucks lower than what tim from acp had them for......JLERD@hotmail.com

No, it's not going to make your car any faster....maybe slightly more aerodynamic....As for the setup, coilovers are just too pricey...I got comptech springs and tokico illuminas for about $700 or so, and added a set of comptech sways for another 300...so for about 1000 it is a pretty sweet setup and I am very happy with it.

Before I buy anything, I want to gather more info. Thanks for the offer shimbo, but no can do right now . As for coilovers, what are they and how much more do they cost compared to separate springs and shocks?

nope they come with their own, thats why theyre so good, it all works together in harmony

BTW- if youre looking at the cheaper "coilovers" (ground control, skunk 2)you will need new shocks cuz theyre just basiclly a height adjustable spring.

KYB and Eibach work with each other on supensions. I have the Eibach ProKit and KYB AGX's. I really like the combo. DO NOT get the Eibach dampers. They are made by Monroe or somebody similar.

I just finished installing WS coilovers from Apexi. I'm really happy with the ride and the ability to adjust the height to where I want them. For 910.00 shipped it was a pretty good deal from this site. My advice would be to change both your springs and shocks whether it be coilovers or a spring shock combo. I wouldn't change the springs on your stock shocks. the ride tends to be bouncier and the stock shock will blow out pretty quickly. just my 2 cents!

Lotsa good info here. I guess a follow-up question would be this: I'm very happy with the way my car handles and rides right now. If I lower my car, will the ride by rougher? Also, does lowering the car make the handling better?

dont mean to bash on your setup but the only reason i dont like apex coilovers is cus their limited adjustability (firmness) and also their quality.....plus their one of those companies that likes to specialize in everything...ie electronics....suspension...blah blha...as tein is just stictly performance orientated....so their more pros into it....plus tein comes straing from japan......apex in japan is nothing compared to tein....tein sales in japan are equal to aem and apex doubled....from what i heard.......

This all depends on the setup you go with. I would strongly suggest that you go for a ride in a buddies car and see for yourself. The bottom line is, either you like it or you dont. And the only way to find out is to ride in a lowered car. There are tons of lwered accords, they have very similar rides to the TL. Get into a lowered accord and see if you like the ride. Ill tell you this. The ride is a little stiffer, but not much. It handles better due to less body roll.
