never used Synthetic and never will/Waste of $$$$. Castrol GTX is fine. Used it in both of my last to Hondas and turned them over 300,000 each with NO INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEMS

I started using Mobil 1 synthetic oil for my previous car, a 2nd gen. 5-spd Integra, ever since the 2nd oil change. I even followed the recommended oil change interval which was every 6K Km. After driven the car for about 4-5 years, the oil had its way to seep through every gaskets. I have replaced head gaskets, cam end cover, oil pan gaskets, etc. a couple times already trying to stop the leaks. I started from added 1 quart of oil in between every oil change to every couple of months, then to every months. The engine is burning oil badly.

I got fed up from spending $$ on keep feeding expensive synthetic oil to the car that I switched back to a higher viscocity conventional oil. After that, there was no more gasket leak, but internal burning oil remained. Who said synthetic oil won't wear out the internal parts of the engine ? It did for me.

If oil changes are done regularly, even conventional oils will do fine for most people, unless the car is driven at sub-zero temperature, or the car is driven at high revolution constantly.

Filling the filter

My grandfather showed me how to change the oil when I was a teen he taught me to fill the filter before putting it on. I've done it ever since.

It's always amazing how much oil a filter can hold. Although I've never measured it, I bet it would be close to 1/2 a quart. It takes awhile to soak in so it's typically the first thing that I do when I start the process.

I'm using Castrol GTX and Acura OEM (Filtech) filters with new crush rings every time. No problems and I'm around 97,000 or so. No issues with the engine or transmission, just normal maintenance stuff....
