Love Hate My TL Should I Sell it?
I wanted to get you guys opinion if I should keep or sell my car. I like the car some days and somedays not so much. When I purchased the car it was a total loss I purchased from a guy in Hartford, CT for $3300, he had done some body work and put some parts on before I purchased. I find out after purchase that he had done a bad job repairing the body, It just isn't ascetically pleasing when you open the hood and look at the area that got hit. So I'll probably need to get some body work done. I have spent a lot of money getting the car back on the road and on various issues. The biggest expense was the transmission, but I purchased a two year warranty with it.
A lot of new issues seem to be arising. The car has high mileage so I will need to do the timing belt and water pump pretty soon. To sell it I will need to give the car a new paint job and get the little nicks and dents taken out. WDP is way to expensive to I plan on just putting on ultra bright white. Radio switch is not working, need new rotors and pads on the front, rotora's warped on me, Transmission probably need servicing, shifter sometimes get stuck on neutral when coming out of drive to park, hole in rear cushion, engine sound bad, Overall not what I expected.
My whole thing is instead of spending anymore money, I should cut my losses and just sell the thing. It would be a significant loss but most of the items purchased and serviced can be written off doing some creative accounting, or else suck it up and just fix the damn thing. What do you think? My 1999 Acura TL has 177,00 miles on it, tokico shocks, H & R oem springs, Rotora rotors, and cold air intake, 2yr warranty transmission, if painted it would come with a 1 yr paint warranty,

Prick of the month
I bought a salvaged 94 Legend coupe and it was a mistake I wish I could take back, same thing, body work badly done. I would cut my losses and ditch that thing, then get another one with a clean title and no damage. Then again, I love my TL and every Acura and Honda I've owned, but it all depends on how much you like the car if you want to get another one.

Some other issues I noticed it the horn doesn't work anymore, and the srs light is one. I am going to take care of the simple issues. How much do you believe I can get for this vehicle, I was thinking possibly $5000

Just chillen..
Get rid of it, the more the money you put into the car, the more it wont be worth it, because the money you put into it, you could simply add it to a new car. Get a 3rd Gen!

5K might be a little high with all of the problems you describe and 177,000 miles on the clock (you really can't recover what you put into the transmission as anyone buying the car would expect that the transmission should run right as part of a legit sale).
I agree with everyone else...it will never likely be 'just right' with you so I would also sell it for what you can get, take off any of the mods you did, and sell them separately. It's not worth the headache of trying to take a poorly repaired car back to an 'acceptable' level. Get a non salvaged car. You will probably lose some $$$ in all of this, but you will feel better about a car that needs little or no work that you will actually enjoy driving.

salvage title cars are what you give your grandma to get around town, not something you pour cash into making a nice car
There is a reason the insurance company said it was a write-off
So many salvage title cars these day went thru serious flooding- that kills electronics and gets into engine bearings and a few months down the road- goodbye

a for sale ad with the good parts listed will be the best-
FS: parting out TL, fresh acura rebuilt trans with warranty, rotora rotors (may need turning)
many new body parts, racers delight

IMO, this is not about love and hate. It is all about bargain. If you could turn it into a nice car, then it is a good deal; if not then its what you paid for. You knew it was a salvaged, so it wasn't like a lemon. I guess it didn't turn out as a bargain as you thought. I think you should just leave it the way it is and sell it back. You definitely don't want to put any more money into it. The lower you can sell, the more buyers you will have.

The car seems like a headache. When buying a salvalge car (not a very good idea by the way) you have to do a full inspecition on it. Still that won't tell you about internal problems that may come up in the future. You will just keep spending money on the car so getting rid of it A.S.A.P would be the best bet for you. I'm guessing the car has frame damage to the rails/aprons from where you say the car was hit. With the current problems I don't see the car being worth more than $2,500 to anyone that knows anything about cars. You might get away with $4k to someone who has no real idea about car history/value.

I could never understand why anyone would buy a vehicle with a salvage title attached to it. This means that the insurance company has written the car off. It costs more to repair it than the car is worth. 9 times out of 10 , the repairs on a salvage car are minimal and shoddy . Gotta keep the repair cost below vehicle value or seller is not makin' any money . What you 're buyin' is a piece of junk. And of course , they gotta make them look good on the outside ta attract a buyer , its called eye appeal.
